I just bought a 2010 FX4 and it came with a remote start key fob. But it will not start the truck. I know the dealer replaced the vehicle battery so that may have reset something. Is there a way I can tell IF this truck even has a remote starter installed? A module possibly that I can locate? It's possible that the dealer gave me someone else's key fob. Thoughts, ideas?

 

Maybe the battery in the remote? Did you get one or two fobs?

 

I believe the battery is fine since the light on it looks bright.
I was given one stock/standard lock/unlock fob. And one little starter fob.

 

Crawl up underneath the dash and take a look or open door n pop open cover on side of dash. See if there are any control modules or anything.

Is there sum kind of antenna on inside of windshield near rearview mirror?

 

Depends which model you have. The long range starter has an antenna in the windshield. The standard one does not.

OP - why not just take it back to the dealer and have them fix it???

 

Is it a factory fob/system? Mine do not have a light on the fobs. Mine is also an integrated key/fob with four buttons. The upper left button is lock, the upper right is unlock, lower left is red panic and lower right is the start button.. So I don't know if it is different for 2010's.

 

I don't have an antenna on the windshield. There is a start module on the passenger side near the fuse panel. But have no clue if it is a remote module.

The key fob is definitely a Ford factory remote starter fob. I did an internet search for the picture of one.

I also have the normal square three button lock/unlock/panic fob too.

I can't take thy truck for questions back since I bought it from a Chevy dealer which is four hours away. But I am going to Ford tomorrow. Maybe they will help...

Is there a hood open kill switch under the hood? My FoMoCo remote start does have an antenna in the windshield. There are a series of wires that are tapped into and soldered under the plastic trim inside the drivers door that runs along the base of the seat. Pull the trim and kick panel and have a look underneath it.
