I just turned 38K on my truck and noticed my truck sounded like crap under load and when I first started it up, but at idle it sounded fine.

As I was driving and if I had the passenger window down, I could hear what sounded like an exhaust leak. If you were driving along side a guard rail, it would reflect the sound back so you could really hear it.

I had my son rev the motor while I was on passenger side and couldn't find where the sound was coming from. I ended up taking it to the dealer and they couldn't find it at first, but eventually the did. It was the manifold, he said I was looking at $800 for the part and that included installation.

I gave them the ok to fix and received a call the next day telling me that it was under warranty. I didn't think it was since my truck was 4 yrs + old and over the 36K mark, but I didn't argue...

If anyone else is experiencing a problem like that, before you try and fix or take somewhere other than dealer, you may want to check your warranty. You may be able to save a couple hundred bucks..

May have been covered under the emissions warranty, or a "hidden" campaign by Ford for a known problem.
