Yea, I want one but I am sticking with my current STX for quite awhile considering the money I am sticking into it.

What's even the point of the STX model in the first place? It's above an XL, but below an XLT, though you can option an STX out in the same ways of an XLT

It is cheaper than an FX if you want paint to match bumpers. Also, like you mentioned, you can get XLT type options but get to keep a vinyl floor. I for one do not like carpet in a truck. If I buy a new 150, it will probably be another STX.

Ok, even with that though, it seems to be a redundant model. But Ford obviously sees the market with it. And I love painted bumpers, the chrome ones on my truck are one the list to take care of

It is just a market trend right now. Ram sells tons of their Express trim trucks (as a matter of fact they are most of the Rams that I see), and all that is is basically a really decontented Sport trim. Why would Ford not try to do the same thing to pick up more sales?

The risk is that until the numbers are in, there isn't a guarantee Ford will pick up more sales from adding this option to the STX trim level.

Maybe the STX SuperCrew will get some new non-Ford customers, but the only people I've heard who are excited are Ford loyalists who would have bought the XLT or FX4, or a SuperCab. Not really generating organic new sales as a result.

It DOES follow Ford's global plan to offer premium options on all trim levels of vehicles. You can deck out a Ford Focus well into the 30k+ range, so it makes sense you can take a base F-150 trim level and deck it out as well. Since 4 doors is an option, not a trim level, making it available to lower trim levels follows their plan, which does seem to be working!

Not hardly. A fully loaded focus ST3 just barely cracks the 30K mark. Focus Titaniums (the top trim level for non ST focus') sticker between 25 and 27K every day of the week. My 2012 focus titanium has everything but the parking package (parralel parks itself) and the handling package (18" wheels) and it stickered for 27,100

STX is basically an FX with a lot less fluff.
