2014 Tremor - Looks fun!
Seems like a renamed (re-engined) Lightning.
Ecoboost Shortbed 2-door still unsure about the graphics…meh. http://www.carscoops.com/2013/06/new...-combines.html |
So it's a single cab FX2...needs a 5.5' bed
|
I bet that sumbich'll SCOOT!
|
The more I look at it the more I like it, I may just have to get this instead of a 2013 FX2 Screw...
|
more details
http://www.freep.com/article/2013062...-pickup-tremor http://www.truckinweb.com/webonly/13...emor_unveiled/ or maybe the same stuff again? according to the FREEP it will be 2WD The 2014 F-150 Tremor will go on sale this fall as a two-wheel-drive urban counterpart to the popular high-end off-road Raptor. |
hmmm, a Livernois tune will make this a lightning killer. At 5,000lbs & 4.10 gears she will scoot. I'm thinking stock for stock it will own a Lightning because of the tranny and gears. Not sure on the L's factory torque #'s.
update.. found the power for 2003 L. It has more torque, plus 300lbs lighter. It would be a good match. "A 5.4-liter SOHC Triton V-8 powers the 2003 SVT F-150 Lightning. The Triton V-8 is mated with an Eaton GEN IV supercharger that breathes through an intercooler, providing 380 horsepower at 4,750 rpm and 450 foot-pounds of torque at 3,250 rpm. Transferring the power to the wheels is a four-speed automatic transmission, strengthened with the same internals used behind Ford's PowerStroke diesel. Routed through an aluminum driveshaft for increased strength, power is then transformed into acceleration by a 9-inch traction-lock differential with a 3.73:1 gear ratio. " |
Now give it to SVT to shove the 5.8L in there...
|
here is a press release from Ford... it looks like they just combined all the mechanicals in the fastest package possible, and then added some pretty stuff (seats, wheels, stickers, etc)
DEARBORN, Mich., June 27, 2013 – The 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor is the first-ever EcoBoost®-powered sport truck that addresses the needs of street truck enthusiasts looking for high-performance V8 power with V6 fuel economy. The short-wheelbase, regular-cab Tremor goes on sale this fall delivering distinctive looks and performance. The all-new truck couples the style of the FX Appearance Package with an EcoBoost engine and a launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle – the shortest final drive ratio offered in an EcoBoost F-150 – helping provide customers with fast acceleration. Tremor signals its sport truck capabilities with a custom-inspired FX Appearance Package featuring stealthy, flat-black accents that include unique 20-inch flat-black wheels, stylized bodyside graphics and black badges with red lettering. Tremor is the only regular-cab F-150 offering a flow-through center console and bucket seats. Interior touches include black leather seating surfaces with red piping, brushed-metal accents and a red-stitched steering wheel. Alcantara seat inserts add texture and style as well. “The new Tremor gives F-150 customers yet another option to drive a highly capable, distinctive performance truck with features typically found only in the aftermarket,” said Brian Bell, F-150 product marketing manager. “Plus, the Built Ford Tough EcoBoost engine is available for the first time in a short-wheelbase F-150.” F-150 Tremor is powered exclusively by Ford’s groundbreaking 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which features: 365 horsepower at 5,000 rpm on regular fuel 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,500 rpm Twin independent variable camshaft timing for improved performance and fuel economy Up to 90 percent peak torque available from 1,700 rpm to 5,000 rpm An electronic locking rear differential that’s standard for both two- and four-wheel-drive versions helps deliver the power to the pavement by improving traction during takeoff. Connectivity comes standard on F-150 Tremor with MyFord Touch® powered by SYNC®. Designers have optimized the physical interface for MyFord Touch to accommodate truck users who may be wearing work gloves by providing easy access to climate controls and audio presets on the center stack. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/...e0+PRN20130627 |
Motortrend has a few more pics. A couple of facts I drew out of this pic-
http://stwot.motortrend.com/files/20...-quarter-3.jpg Note the Lariat derived grille-not sure if all fx style trucks, just appearance package trucks, or only Tremors will have this grille. Also, note the gap in the bumper. Does anyone else see the protector they have there? I wonder if this is a new for 2014 thing on all eco's..... |
|
Atleast they went with the Ecobeast instead of the 5.slow  :scared:

Honestly, I think this is a smart move by Ford... tapping into a dead segment that no one can touch them with. No make right now could touch that power and mpg. I think the mpg might be a bit low though due to the 4.10s
|
And I hate to say it, but if I would totally drive that minus the horrid decals. I would however have the stock exhaust altered and exit in front of the tire... stock muffler and everything thing tho, just nice tips and the like. I can't believe I said that :o

Need a Hennessey version, like the Velociraptor. :)

I want a regular cab with a high quality, comfortable interior with two buckets and a console. Just figures that they announce this model AFTER I settle for the XLT. Oh well, now I look forward to the end of my lease on this one. I'm up for a new regular cab Lariat with buckets and a console as soon as I can end this lease. |
I'd drive that truck.

Really don't like this quote from Ford;

Plus you'll never get that deep growl out of a V6, no matter how many turbos you throw at it. If this is their answer to the Ram Express, need to offer a V8 in it. |

I agree and I'd take a 5.0 stx rcsb over this. However those cafe regulations aren't going away... Knowing Ford, I bet this is a test to see if a lightning type truck will sell. If it does (and it will) I bet a limited run v8 will come out.
Those people who came up with cafe regulations must drive really boring vehicles, and don't know how fun driving can be. Ford should give them some Raptor's or GT500's for a test drive or something. Kind of like when Brian Deegan convinced that kid to finally get a license. |
Price tag will kill this truck. They need to keep it at 27-30k if they want to sell it. I think it will help get people into the Eco branding. If this truck is 40k there will be a lot of trucks sitting. Its essentially a RC Lariat or FX2, both of which are deep into the 40s. No way I'd ever pay over 28 for a RC truck......
|
Love it. Not sure what the end of year sales will be (not that i care) but this thing will scoot. Livernois tune this thing it's gonna turn easy 12's. Just need some buns on it.
|
I love the idea of this and think it looks great. But I too think it needs a 5.5 ft bed. But the biggest thing I'd like to see is a V8. I'd really prefer the Mustang's 5.0. The GT500's supercharged 5.8 would be awesome, but completely wishful thinking.

A source familiar with Ford's plan told CNBC that it will cost between $23k to $27k.

link: http://www.cnbc.com/id/100849583 I'd get one when they come out but my 2011isn't worth much in trade. I've always treated my vehicles like I would trade them in soon. I'm using this truck like I'm going to own it for a while. I guess I'm going to own it for a while. I kind of want a fun to drive car with a manual transmission too. I think that's what I'm going to get next. |
I seriously doubt 23-27k-an equivalent FX2 ext cab is about $45k-there is no way dropping it down to a reg cab will drop the price $20k
|
You guys are right. It's going to be higher. That's what I get for quoting CNBC.

You guys are mentioning sticker prices. NO one pays anything close to sticker. There are threads on this, but trucks (in TX) are 12-14k off right now. Even loaded-all-the-way 4X4 Plats are selling in the low 40s
Crewcab FX2's sell in the mid 30s depending on options. My neighbor got one for 32k with the Ecoboost. Single vs crew cab is 4-5k at least. So 28.5k seems doable to me. 23k I still doubt |
