2009 4x4 4.6l 6spd owners, hows it holding up ?

Looked at a nice low mileage XLT 09, to replace my 97 220,000mi 4.2L

Trying to research all the known issues with this year/engine before i go back to the dealer?

Thanks!!

i dont know if you are dead set on the 4.6 or not, but one of my buddies bought a 4.6, hated it, drove a 5.0, and bought one the next day. if its just for commuting im sure youd be fine, but any towing, hauling, or plus sized tires and you might start disliking it

thank J . I dont tow much of anything now. maybe in the future, but want the added cab and 4x4 for the usual outdoor fun. its a 6spd which im reading is somewhat peppy'r than the 4spd.
anything compared to my old 97 4.2L reg cab will be a step up in my mind

yes the 6 speed is fantastic. before pulling the trigger i would see how much more it would be to step up into a similar rig with the 5.0

The 6 speed 4.6 is the 3v. It is much improved over the 4.6l 2v with the 4 speed. I would test drive it at the very least before you count it out. Any 2011 5.0's in your area for a reasonable price? If so a '11 with a 5.0 would be a great buy.

You can buy a brand new XLT, SCAB or SCREW, 5.0L, 4x4 for less than 30K OTD.....
