Still lookin'
Okay, so you need-
- 5.0 L V8 or Ecoboost
- 4WD (must)
- Supercrew
- Synch
- <45K miles
- Two Tone Dark Blue Pearl/Silver (I keep trying not to care about color, but I keep finding it creep up on the priority list.
- Sales tax in VA is 3%
- Front seat needs to be bench
- Running boards/bed liner/tonneu cover (the one I'm looking at has the matching hard cover, but not married to that style)
I have found a few different options for you. I have decided to stick with used, as it sounds like you are stetching your budget as is. However, it is worth noting that if you are willing to go up to about $32k you can have your pick on new 2013 XLT's (not trying to pressure you lol, just want you to know). So, sticking with a $28k budget, I have found a few options for you. They are-
Option 1
$27,900 asking price
2011 XLT Crew Dark Blue 5.0
31K miles
Pros-
one of the lowest asking prices
long bed-extra utility
chrome pkg(one of the best looks on an F150 IMO)
still has some bumper to bumper warranty left
Cons-
No idea if it has a bedliner
No tonneau cover
console instead of jumpseat(this is EASY to swap out, however)
no silver trim
Option 2
$28,400 Asking price
2011 XLT Crew Dark blue 5.0
20K miles
Pros-
Long Bed
Chrome Pkg
Bench Seat
Some B2B warranty left
More option packages, has items such as reverse parking sensors
Cons-
No tonneau
No silver trim
Unsure if it has a bedliner
Option 3
$29997 Asking Price
2011 XLT dark blue Ecoboost
16k miles
Pros-
Has everything you want but the tonneau/unsure about bedliner
CERTIFIED Preowned-Ford Backed warranty
Long bed
chrome pkg
LOADED-pretty sure this has every available option
Cons-
Most expensive asking price
I (obviously) just did a search on Cars.com, and I only put up a few of the results I found. I looked for vehicles within 500 miles of Richmond-not sure how far you are willing to travel to pick a vehicle up. You can do the same thing and be able to sort it based on 4wd/2wd, color, cab size, model year-lots of ways to sort it. Dont let asking prices sway you-the dealers have some leeway in price, and I would be willing to bet that you can get 2-3k off OTD. I would focus on getting a truck with the options that you wont be able to change after the purchase. What I mean is you wont be able to (easily) change the color-so make sure you get what you want. On the flipside, you can easily add a bedliner, so I wouldnt make it a priority. Also, keep in mind that many dealers can add the tonneau and bedliner before a sale and roll it into your loan if thats what you want to do. The only other piece of advice i am gonna give is that the silver trim is pretty rare-if you decide you realy want it you are gonna limit your choices. Hope this helps you out some, good luck!

Also, one more quick thing for you-
http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...icker.pdf?vin=
That link will show you the original window sticker for the vehicle you are looking at. Just enter the link into your browser, put the VIN of the vehicle you are looking for at the end, and hit enter. So, for instance, for option 3 of my last post, the link would be-
http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...FW1ET7BFB82152
I have looked at window stickers for vehicles as old as 2006 using this, so you should be able to see any vehicle you are considering. This is a handy tool for being able to have a clear picture of whats on a vehicle you are considering as well as being able to make a clear comparison of 2 vehicles. Good luck!

When I bought my '10, I shopped different dealers, and forced them to compete. I learned that I could get my best deal by factory ordering my truck because the dealer would have no investment, and thus have made interest payments, so I was able to get my best price. At the time, Ford had 7k in rebates, and the dealer knocked nearly another 7k off.
I was still able to take full advantage of the current rebates, even if factory ordering exactly what I WANTED.
Might be worth spending a Saturday shopping dealers, but be aware that many dealer owners own multiple dealerships, of both the same and competing brands. You will want to shop the dealers with different owner groups to take advantage of their competitive nature.

I love my Ford.
Now I gotta relearn how to park it!

Thanks all! And thanks Rambo - if you get a sec, shoot me a PM so I can look less stupid next time - how'd you do that?
On another note - if you have Synch and a smart phone and you haven't tried this yet, I just discovered a VERY cool feature. You can play Pandora (via the phone app) through sync. WOW - now THAT is a cool deal.
