Does the 2013 XLT SCab folding front seat actually lock down?

Hi All,

I thought I'd ask before going any further. According to the manual the folding front seat in the 2013 model (this is the extra seat when you have a front bench seat) locks in both the up and down locations.

I've never noticed before but just this afternoon I lowered the seat and it didn't lock into place when down. It locks into place when up still.

My 2003 locked down and I've had the 2013 seat up and down before but I can't remember ever checking if it actually locked when down.

If someone has the same model (or at least the bench front) in a 2013 could you let me know if it locks down?

Thanks.

I wondered the same thing about mine too and was going to ask, my 2013 XLT front middle seat does not lock in the down position, only in the up, so I guess the manual is wrong. The 2010 XLT I had previously though, locked in both up and down. Anyone else with a '13 that can verify also?

My previous 2011's seat didn't lock either. Have you noticed the storage space under the center seat? If not, reach under the seat front, there's are tab to pull, and the seat bottom lifts up. Good place to hide stuff.

With the lap sash restraint taking up so much space in the console part I use the space under the seat for things that need access to but not as much as in the console space. It took me a couple of weeks to work out the distribution but I don't miss the space as much as when I first got the truck.

Thanks guys for the comments - It looks like the manual may indeed be wrong in its description of locking down - Next time I take the truck in for a service I'll poke around the ones in the yard and confirm.
