Been shopping for a replacement truck (supercre Lariat). Mostly I've been looking at 04-08 models because they are in my price range.
Ran across a 2009 Lariat Supercrew. Except for one dent above the tail light, it looks like perfect. The one test drive I did it rode wel and engine sounded better than my last truck. And it's in my price range (upper end, but just). Being sold by the same Ford Dealer that sold it new.
Only flaw is 96,000 miles, or about 30k a year. Carfax says a single commercial owner and it's in ranching country.
Most of the trucks I've been looking at have similar miles, but are three or more years older. I'm worried about the amount of miles in such a short time.
Opinions?
Thanks,
AC

5.4? Its pretty trusted. Id rather have a truck with 30k a year than 3k a year. Also the company I used to work for replaced their trucks right before 100k. A supercrew lariat wasn't out getting worked, it was taking 1 person to meetings and jobsites if I had to guess.
One thing to consider is that the '09's came out in '08, and with it now being late march of '13, this could easily be a nearly 5 year old truck, and is at least a 4 year old. Brings your average yearly down to somewhere between 19k, and 24k.
Awesome, thanks for the advice. Appreciate the willingness to help out a novice Truck owner.

Supercrew is much larger than previous model. Front door is larger = better visibility. 6 speed is worth the coin over the 4speed especially if towing.
I wouldn't be afraid of the miles. Check the oil filler cap for sludge and get the vehicle maintenance history if possible.
Good luck

96,000 mi. on a 5.4 means its just getting broken-in good. If it's been maintained properly then I wouldn't worry too much about the miles. Those engines have a reputation for living a long, long time.
