Weird Driver Door Ajar Message issue
Weird Driver Door Ajar Message issue
Hi All,
I'm having a weird electrical issue on my 2009 XLT SCrew.
Went to lunch yesterday and when I tried to roll down my window, the window didn't move but the "driver door ajar" message came up and started beeping. Same results for any of the 4 window controls on the driver armrest, as well as with the front passenger arm rest....always says "driver door ajar" no matter which control i try (and none of them actually make the windows move).
Just this morning I got the same when I turned on the side mirror heaters...message stayed up until I turned off the heaters.
Luckily I have an extended warranty on the truck (all the electronics, SYNC, etc motivated me to purchase this) and will be going to dealer on Tuesday. But thought I would post this to see if anyone else has had similar issues?
biggest bummer is it's supposed to be window-down type weather this weekend...oh well.
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Update (see post above for original problem): Failing power windows ended up being due to wires shorting due to chaffing(sp?) somewhere in the door. Fix was a new wiring harness.
All told, truck was in the shop for 6 working days (not counting the Sat/Sun it was in) 2 days to diagnose, 3 days to get the harness, 1 day for installation.
Extended Service Plan paid for itself and more on this one.
