Question 2013 XLT Screw headlights don't automatically shut off?

On my '08, when I would turn the truck off, if I had left the headlights on by mistake, the truck would 'time them out' (turn them off until I started the engine again.) My 2013 does NOT turn them off! Is there something I need to do to get this battery saving feature on the 2013? I do not want to use the 'auto lamp' setting, because I don't always want to use my lights.

Thanks in advance for your response(s).

Well that sucks. They make aftermarket relays that will do the same thing as OEM and are probably a lot easier to install.

Amazon Amazon

Good luck with it.

Thats precisely what the autolamp setting is designed to do. Just curious why you "don't always want to use your lights". Do you like to drive around in the dark with your lights off or something?

I don't use my autolamp setting because when I start my truck after dark, I don't want the headlights coming on and blinding my neighbor sitting on her front patio across the road from me and blinding her.

Ahhh...I see.

Living in the country, these things don't occur to me. LOL

Yea, I live in the country too, and I leave mine on automatic all the time, and they shut off a little bit after I shut the truck off. I have never tried to turn them on manual and see if they go off.

I don't use auto lamps because I would "blind" my horses! Also, when it's raining, you have no way of knowing if they are on, as required by law, and if the light isn't dark/overcast enough to turn the headlights on, I could get a ticket. I have a cdl and can't afford to get tickets!! Lol.
