free oil change? lucky or...

Took my truck to the dealership yesterday for it's first oil change(4k miles). They took my truck in and before i knew it the guy was giving me the paper work for services rendered. He gave me my keys and told me to have a nice day. I asked him how much and he said no charge. My question is, Is the first oil change free or do i have some kind service Pkg i don't know about. Has this happened to any one else? I didn't ask because i was in a hurry and i went out of line.

Mine was free for first time too. Must be part of the new car experience. My third was free too since i had an issue or something like that and the service guy took care of it. Sorry to bust your "lucky" bubble.

Most dealers just do it as a courtesy. Not sure there is something hidden policy within Ford where the dealer gets reimbursed or not.

actually, its a pr kinda thing.... when you see how quick and convenient it is, maybe you'll return for future service.

One of our local Ford dealerships offers free oil changes for life if you buy a new vehicle.

When I bought my 2000 f150 I got free oil change for life. That ended when I traded in for 2010 model in 2010.Now I have to pay. Dealer says I was only a small hand full left on that offer.

just be careful with what parts come with that "Free" oil change. The dealer that we bought the wife's mustang did the free oil change and the second we paid for. Third oil change I did it myself and it had a pronto oil filter instead of motorcraft. if they cheap out on the filter I can only imagine what bulk oil they buy. Needless to say I am back to doing all my own maintence. motorcraft filters and motorcraft oil for hers and mobile1 for mine!

When I bought my 2012, there was no mention of free oil changes or anything else for that matter. But a couple weeks later I get (5) free oil changes from the dealer.....
