Frustrated with 2012 FX4
Frustrated with 2012 FX4
History.... My 2012 FX4 Eco has 47000km on it. Truck itself has been pretty good, mileage is not as advertised but you don't buy a truck to save money on fuel! I work in the oil patch up north and this F150 is my 12th Ford in 17 years. Now my issue and frustration. Late November both heated seat stopped working all together. The red lights were on but no heat. Truck went into the dealer and they replaced the module?? This took my dealer 4 day (with an appointment) to complete this repair. The "fix" lasted about 5 day when the seats kind of worked, would get warm or not at all. Booked the truck back into the dealer, they had it for another 4 days, got it back... Again seat worked for about 3 - 4 days then the same no heat or just a little. Back again, same out come..... Back for the 4th time this time they had it for 8 days, and again they worked for 5 days now are back working 40% heat if that. So since November 22 my truck has been at the dealer for 18+ days.
They have replaced the module, blowers, manifold. They have had the seats out and made sure the ducts are not plugged up and blown out the air holes in the seats. Last fix (in for 8 days) they said it was a loose connection....right,,
HELP, please!
It is a major hassle to keep taking the truck in. I almost feel guilty because the heated seats are a minor issue but I did pay extra for them and up here they are used everyday for months.
I have bought the 120K extended warranty thanks god. All I can say is after 17 years and 12 Ford trucks I think it will be time to try a Chev or Ram in 18 month when I approach 120000 km.
Sorry for venting but I feel helpless dealing with Ford. Like the truck but a minor issues is very frustrating. My dealer is nice to deal with, great guys but the problem is not getting fixed!

well if you have the extended warranty with it, although you may not want to, you'll just have to keep going back.
i had an issue with my right front strut squeaking really bad and i had to go in 3 different times before it was fixed. they were just trying to "bandage" the problem. basically you just gotta tell them to cut the bull#$%@ and fix your truck. and dont feel guilty cause YOU paid that extra money and YOU are gonna get the use out of it.

and maybe even try a different dealer cause it sounds to me like that one sucks pretty bad. one wanted me to leave it for a couple days while they ordered the part and i asked them why does it have to sit there when the part to fix it isnt even there yet? no comment..
but maybe something somewhere is shorting out the module and causing it to repeatedly go out..

Called the dealer this morning to discuss the issue. They said they would talk to the service Forman and call me back.... Still waiting for the call back.
Ever had the feeling you are on your own???

did you call the same dealer? like i said before, if you can i would suggest you try another one. as long as you have a warranty any ford dealer is supposed to honor it. you just gotta cut to the chase and get on them about the issue.
Sometimes its not that simple. He may be like me, in that there isnt another dealer within driving distance(the next closest for me is 360 miles away). I am fortunate to have a dealer that does pretty well....
