Well the bill (request) approved through the House (wife) to proceed with a Backup camera for my truck. Started looking in on it and came across teh "CarShow CS FD1030-P11" dash kit/NAV system.

Anyone use this? I remember seeing it in a "Concept" fashion a few months back....but now it is out!

QUESTION:
1. Can we hook up the stock tailgate Badge backup camera to this?
2. Is it cheaper better to go for the rearview mirror monitor instead of getting a full DVD/NAV Setup?

 

I have that. It comes with a camera, also you can hook up a second camera. I used a tailgate emblem camera in the front, so I have both a front and rear camera

 

According to this thread, it does not use the same cables at the factory back up.

It is supposed to be a self contained unit!? No NAV, but I get the Backup Camera that I originally wanted when I bought the truck!

i would like a camera on mine too. i was debating it when i ordered mine but didnt like the thicker emblem. i wish they did the 150's like the 250's. those are in the tailgate handle.

buy a 04-08 handle (they look the same, probably cost you $5 to pull one from a junk yard) to verify the handle is the same. Then just modify (if needed) to get the camera into the handle.

Or (if the tail gate handle is the same) see if the wiring is the same between the 04-08 camera and the 09+ camera and use the 04-08 camera in handle

 

Just a random thought, have you pulled your truck up along side a new F250 on a lot and measures both handles? It's a bit of a long shot, but what if it was a direct bolt on? Stranger things have happened in the 150 - 250 swap world.....

 

The superduty tail gate has not changed since 99 (other than a slightly boxier shape and minor bracket changes IIRC but they work on earlier trucks) meaning a 08+ tailgate will fit on a 97-03. I bet you the tail gate handle on the 08+ SD trucks is identical to the 04-08 tail gate handles.

A quick google search showed tail gate handles (aftermarket) are the same between 04-08 and 09+, but do your own research to verify. I only spent a few minutes googling it earlier before my last reply.

I'm not sure if the superduties get a painted tail gate handle yet, that's why I recommended the 04-08 tail gate handle over that option. I know my friends 11 KR superduty does not have a painted handle.
