I have noticed that some 4x4s have a sticker that says just 4x4 and some say 4x4 offroad. Does this indicate a difference in the trucks or does Ford just randomly use two different stickers?

Different models with different packages. "4X4" is usually on any XLT, Lariat, etc. with 4x4 I think. The "offroad" ones are generally FX packages, I think. And the stacked 4x4 is SuperDuty 4x4. However, you can get nearly anything you want on EBay.

 

If you ordered the optional offroad package you get the sticker. Got it on my Lariat.

 

This. My new KR has the "off road" sticker and has the offroad package. That includes skid plates and the 3:55 elec locking rear axle.

 

It also includes different shocks as well as hill descent control on the 13's.

 

On my 2012 Lariat Off Road Pkg included, skid plates, tuned front shocks, 3.73 ELD.
