I just towed my 8X18 enclosed loaded with quad and some other things that weighs about 3500lbs and the 6.2 towed it like a dream. I used to have an 01 F150 with a bunch of work done to it to help it tow and its no comparison to what the 6.2. You will have to rev the 6.2 out a little bit to get into the power band. I think the truck needs a tune to wake it up a little bit.

I'm not sure about mpg on an F150 with a 6.2L because they are so rare. But about every every post i have read with the 6.2L in a 3/4 ton has only averaged 12mpg with mixed driving?? I haven't read any posts on the Ecoboost with the mpg's ever being in the 12's with mixed highway driving?? I'm averaging just about 11mpg towing my 7500lb brick on the highway!!

Tangent, interesting. I have carried 3000lbs in the back of my truck with the same setup, minus the engine and didn't have an issue with pulling anything.

If you read through the threads on EB mpg, you will see several that are getting in the 13s with mixed driving. Those are the ones I was referring to. That is pretty much equivalent to what you get with a 6.2.

Those guys have major issues with there trucks, or the way they drive.. Probably the later.
Majority of guys getting 20-21 highway, 18-19 mixed with Eboost as well.

I would put an Eboost in a truck that was going to have 37's on it. It has way way more TQ down low than the 6.2 or 5.0. It would do the best job pulling those big tires with out a doubt. But it will deff get V8 gas mileage the entire time as well. BOOST = fuel consumption.

One thing to keep in mind, it is not just the size of the tire, either. I replaced my OEM Michelins at 35,000 with a softer, better handling tire, same size(Toyo Open Country), and lost 1.2 to 1.5 mpg. They handle great and ride better, but it is costing me about $600 a year in extra fuel.

How'd ye do dat wiffout a dern engine? I guess just the presence of the EB badge on the side is enough to pull a load.

What were ye a-haulin'? I just hauled over 60 cinder blocks in the bed (probably about 1700 lbs) while towing my father-in-law's loaded with tools work trailer to a job a couple of weekends ago (about 5000 lbs). No issues at all towing/hauling that stuff, either.

I have 33" tires and 3.55 rear. However, I just have the lowly, inferior 5.0.

Well I didn't know I had to educate you on reading a sentence...see that "same setup" part? Oh and I don't have no stinken badges...

No education necessary here. Trust me. That comment was meant to be, what some folks call, humorous.

Everytime I blow a Dodge Hemi in the weeds, they want to know if I have an EB and removed the badges to make it a sleeper. I would put Mustang 5.0 badges on but hate to make those Dodge boys sick.

Engine doesnt matter with 37s, gearing does. Hell a 4.2 V6 with 5.xx gears will turn 37s just as good as a 6.2 with 3.55s. The only difference will be how much power the truck has based on the HP difference not tire size if properly geared.

My friends dad has an eco boost that is averaging 19.1mpg mixed driving and a guy we buy our exhaust from gets 18.7 average. However the exhaust guy said the "ecoboosts towing MPG sucks". He told us that with an empty trailer (I'm not sure of its exact size) he got 10MPG and when it was full with 7500lbs of pipe he averaged the same 10MPG

The 6.2 does make good power but if I was wanting the most power I would get an Eco with Livernois tune. Honestly though I'm waiting for the 2015s to show up with 750lbs lighter and hopefully have the issues ironed out with the Ecoboost and transmission.

I would think a 6.2L with a tune and 4.10's would do just fine with 37's. Considering the Raptor is already sporting 35's, I would think a good custom tune would make up for the loss of going bigger tires on a truck with that engine.

I'm still not sure on engine size? My good friend and best man bought a 2004 lariat with the 5.4L he bought it from the showroom floor. He lifted and put 38x15.5 the truck was great but it did lack a lot of power when he did the lift. He also put a edge tuner in the truck plus he did the intake and exhaust. After the mods it was still lacking a bunch of power. Then at 70 000kms the transmission decided to blow up. So I don't see how a V6 could be much better. I know that putting a big lift and tires on a half ton is a little crazy. It's hard on the running gear no matter how you look at the situation. Im not worried about the fuel mileage if I was then I would not lift the truck.

As has been stated, the only way to minimize the stress on the running gear after a lift and bigger tires is regearing.
