In a recall with few precedents, Ford warned today that 89,193 owners of brand new 2013 Ford Escape SUVs and Ford Fusions with 1.6-liter turbocharged engines should park their vehicles until further notice due to risk of engine fires -- and gave no estimate of when it would have a repair.
I know this is the 1.6 but hopefully won't effect the V6

I was thinking the same thing but if I bought the new Fusion it probable would be the Titanium Hybrid or 2.0 so nothing to worry about, even though the 1.6 would be nice for the manual.
The F150 Eco is not a 1.6 oohing to worry about

My father called me earlier and was heartbroken since he placed his order on a new Fusion Titanium a good while ago. The car is supposed to be at his dealer this week. Could hear the relief in his voice when I told him that the 2.0L EcoBoost wasn't affected.
Bummer about all that though. Can't imagine the feeling of taking my brand new vehicle back to the dealer, or being afraid to drive my brand new vehicle for fear of a fire! But then again you see pictures of new 500K Ferraris going up in smoke as well. No car or brand is perfect, especially when a new engine is released!
On another note, a friend of mine was driving along 96 this weekend when her Escort went up in flames. Save the Fords!

There are only a few commonalities between the 1.6 and 3.5:
This recall is in no way related to anything with the 3.5, and, personally, I think it has a lot to do with the QC with the European build of the engine.
- They both burn gas
- They are both direct injected
- They both have turbos

Ya I can't take delivery of my fusion, cause of this issue, from the techs I talked to they said the major issue was the southern climates, wouldn't go into more detail. My guess is theres a coolant leak onto the exhaust. Offered me a rental car at no cost.
i think if too many EcoBoost recalls or serious issues make the news, it could in the long term hurt resale.....even if none of the real issues have anything to do with the F-150. All most people will remember is "I sem to remember hearing these EcoBoosts have problems".
I was over at Ford today shooting the breeze with the service writer. They have 5 customer Fusions and a few Escapes parked out back waiting for Ford to come up with a fix. All the customers are in rentals. They also have a few stock Fusions that they can't sell. They have one Escape with the engine out and torn apart that they can't figure out what's wrong with it. They have had a couple more with the same type of issues that some people have had with the 3.5's - overheating and going into limp mode.
The 1.6 is built in Spain. The writer told me that they just found out the other day that there were overheating issues during development that Ford did NOT fix, they built the engines anyway..........BAD move.
This is going to seriously hurt the Ecoboost reputation across the board, the 3.5 is not issue-free either.
