Crankingthe torsion bars up

I read that you can do this to level out your truck. Has anyone done this with bad results. People say the gain 1"-3" height. How many turns of the torsion key would be safe???

You are posting in the 2009-2013 forum. Assuming you have one of these model years, you do not have torsion bars. The last model year to have them is 2003. If you have a 1997 to 2003 4wd, then I suggest you have this thread moved to the proper forum.

Nope, either buy a leveling kit or a set of Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks.

Yeah it would be nice, but leveling kits are dirt cheap.

You can level it for free by taking out the rear block, if it's a 4x4.

Free only if you can reuse the U bolt. If not, you'll need new one.

You can get an autospring level kit for less than $80 and install it yourself. Autospring is arguably the most popular and best leveling kit for 2004 and up f150s.

Ok thanks, Im going to eventually go with a BDS 4" suspension lift that should level it out. Just was lookig for something free until then. Can't stand the look of a truck that is not leveled. I'll look into that autospring kit

Well if your going to be getting a 4" BDS, I would wait for it. Your going to be spending $80 for the level, $70-80 for an alignment and then it will look weird of you don't get bigger tires. If you wait for the BDS you will be able to clear 35s with pretty much any wheel you want. With a level you can do 35s but you will be very limited with wheel choice.
