Any Reviews on GY Wrangler SR-A?

Have 275/65/18 on my new FX4. Wondering what I can expect, especially for the coming Colorado snow and ice. Anyone got these?

Just picked up my MY13 FX4 and would like to hear from forum members too. Might want to ck reviews on tire rack.com. From what I've read they're not a bad tire but there are better if you want to upgrade.

Hate to spend another thousand bucks, when the tires are new. Maybe dedicated snows for the winter months. I found another thread on the SR-A. Mixed reviews, mostly negative. Guess I'll find out soon.

I have ran them for the past 2.5 yrs/30k miles on my truck cause they were almost new when I got my truck. I don't really have anything bad to say about them, they grip the road good in all conditions and were suprisingly good in some minor offroading/mudding considering they are a street tire. The only condition I have not tried them in is snow/ice because we don't get that often in GA, so maybe somebody who has will chime in. I will be upgrading to m/ts when these wear out, but the SRAs are a pretty good tire IMO.

My biggest complaint was looks. Only had 12 miles on mine as I went straight to Discount Tire and traded them on Cooper ST MAXX. Look too much like car tires to me.

For OEM "all terrain" tires, they are okay. However, they are definitely not good snow/ice tires.

If I were you, I'd try to find a deal on some winter wheels and get some dedicated winter tires - something with the mountain and snowflake certification. I've got Michelin X-Ice on my winter wheels but you may want something more aggressive.

My son in law just put a set of BFG Rugged Trail T/A's on his 98 4wd with the offroad package and 17's - I see they ranked very well in that linked chart. Reason he got those was strictly price, they were the cheapest name brand all-terrains we could find.

The SRA's were an epic fail in ice conditions. It took me one storm to install a set of blizzaks on some XLT wheels I picked up on craigslist. They call the SRA "all season" but in reality they are a 3 season tire.

Oh - THOSE........ - they aren't even "all-terrain". Those are highway all-seasons. One would think a FX4 would come with something more aggressive.

Those Blizzaks are very similar to the X-Ice.

Heh - even the SR-A description on Tire Rack hints they are not a good winter tire........

The Wrangler SR-A is designed to reduce noise, vibration and ride harshness while providing all-season traction, even on gravel roads and in light snow.

canadianelbow, have you had the blizzaks on ice yet? I've read good reviews. Also, should I have my dealer mount them, or can most "tire stations" deal with the TPMS? Thanks

Blizzaks are phenomenal in the snow/ice - you barely need 4x4 turned on!

I like the SRAs because they ride good. The beaf I have is with Ford miss representing them as all terrain. They are a highway tire and their claim is misleading and inaccurate. They could be sued for that. I order my trucks with the "C" rated all terain tires.

The tire stores these days are equipped to deal with TPMS.

my blizzaks have allowed me to drive around some 4x4's in 4wd driving in the icy roads leading up to some of the ski hills around here. There is a night and day difference with and without them.

If you plan on getting new wheels and sensors, the tire shops can make it all work together, but any tmps warranty work could run I to a he said/she said problem if you choose non ford sensors.

My biggest complain is also merely the looks of the tire. My 2012 SuperCrew is such a big looking truck, yet as many have told me, looks like it has "toy car tires". To which it does. I know that Ford put them on because of fuel-economy, but c'mon, we couldn't have gotten anything beefier? And has anyone curbed the SRAs? The white letters look like garbage once they've struck the curb.

I've got a set of 34.5" Trail Grapplers that I will be using year round once I install my level. I've heard the SRAs do no good in snow and ice, and living out in the country where the plows don't go, I will definitely need something bigger or better for the conditions.
