License Plate location on 2013 ecoboost
never mind...Confirmed... from post below:

Guys,
I read that on the ecoboost Ford puts the plate on the side like picture below. Is this confirmed?

Is this only on the Ecoboost? If it is in fact to help with cooling the inter-coolers and tranny cooler I am ok. Unfortunately we have to have a front license plate on the vehicles in Texas.

Anyone know where I can get a grill like this one? looks like a 2012 Platinum grill?
The trucks look better in states without front plates that's for sure. But if you want maximum performance from a turbocharged engine you've got to have an intercooler and it's got to have good airflow if it's air-to-air.
The intercooler doesn't cool the turbos, it cools the air charge before it enters the engine. The turbos are cooled with engine coolant.

I think the plates look a little odd of set like they are on the EB. Almost like an afterthought. One of the fixes from Ford for the "condensation issue" was to put a blocking plate across the intercooler. I wonder if moving the plate to the middle and getting rid of the blocking plate would have the same affect?

If you block the air inlet for the inner cooler, you will greatly reduce the power and efficiency of this engine, and it might get hot. The turbos force air into the engine and that creates heat which the cooler reduces to give you a cooler more dense air charge.

They want so much to be different but yet look the same.....
