Wierd sound in console

I've got a 2010 Platinum with the premium sound system/gps/all that stuff... My truck has < 300 miles till the warranty runs out.

Two days ago, I started hearing a weird sound coming from my console. It sounds almost like a cd changer motor going out.

This morning I narrowed the source of the noise down to the drivers side temperature control. When I increase the temperature, it makes the weird sound. When I decrease the temp, it makes the sound, but its more muted.

Any suggestions on what this is, or the correct terminology to use to describe it to the shop?

thx

Im pretty sure its the blend door. There is a motor that sits on top of the heater core/evap core box (it is for the 2004-2008 models). This little motor can crap out and the dash has to come out to replace it. Take that truck in right away and tell them you are having an intermittent issue and this may get it replaced for you. Tell them what you hear and tell them the climate control does not "feel" like it's heating or cooling properly when this happens. I am not a big fan of stretching the truth but at $125 per hour that is an expensive fix.

Dropped it off this am at the local yocal ford dealership. 221 miles left on my warranty !

They said it sounded like the actuator, and would be a "quick" fix ... They called a few minutes ago and said it was the driver's side actuator, and they would have to pull the dash out

Hopefully they will get everything back together correctly.. I don't like for anyone to work on my stuff but myself or my own mechanic..
