2012 fx2
2012 fx2
I traded my 2007 Lariat in for a 2012 FX2 with the 5.0 on Friday. I put a few miles on her this weekend. All I can say is "amazing". This truck drives so much differently that the 2007 I had. The steering is far more precise, there is almost no body roll and the transmission is actually quite nice! I was concerned that the 3.31 axle ratio would not compare to the 3.73 I had but in all actuality the truck moves just fine. The low revs at cruise are exceptional as well. It appears to be around 1750 at 70 MPH. At 70 the MPGs are between 20.2 and 22.4. Truck has 260 miles after a weekend of tooling around. Ill get some pics up later.
Love the growl
The 5.0 has a great sound when you get on it. I am keeping it stock through Christmas. I will get a tuner for sure, I am not sure about exhaust yet. As much as I love the sound, I kinda feel bad for my neighbors when I used to fire up my Lariat at 6 in the morning for work. You ALWAYS knew when I was coming or going LOL!

Nope, funny cause if I had stolen it I would kick myself. Note to any "soon to be parents". Don't buy that thing! The front wheels are straight out of a jack *** movie!
The Beemer.....
I wanted my next ride to be a 335d. The only one I could afford left the lot in 13 days of its arrival! The 335d only makes 265HP but she has 425 ft. Lbs. of Torque on tap and gets 500+ miles on an 16 gallon tank i think it is. I will say the 2012 FX2 provides for a nice driving experience and the 6spd has been quick to respond. The 3.73 in my 2007 lariat had more "snap" off the line, however i was running the diablo predator 89 perf tune, built transmission with shift kit and red band Kevlar clutches, and a cat back exhaust. From a stop the 5.0 will win, the engine revs quicker and longer (6000 RPM vs 5200 in 1st on my tuned 5.4). Rolling at 30 the 5.0 will walk away as the old 4 speed pulls from 2nd to 3rd. At 55 and 60 my 5.4 would pull the 5.0 all the way to 90. At 90 the 5.0 once again revs for another 1000 RPM and then grabs 5th gear and keeps pulling, I think the two would neck and neck until my 5.4 ran out of gear. To sum it all up, the 5.0 is a wonderful evolution from the 5.4. A smaller, lighter, more powerful engine with an excellent transmission makes for a wonderful ride. I think someone at Ford has been monitoring the forums and tuner reviews and taken this information to heart. Anyone thinking about trading up for the 2011/2012 5.0 should take advantage of the current rebates.
ya if you did steal mine i was going to thank you for just that same reason lol
