Minor Rant: Finish the job Ford

My 2012 FX4 is I think my 4th new F-150, my 10th or so f-150 overall and probably my 15th Ford....and I'll probably buy more in the future.

But why in the world would they sell an up-level truck with a big rectangle hole where other states have a license plate and leave the half *** painted underside of the bed exposed in the rear wheel well. I bought a nice aftermarket grille for the bumper but why do states that use front plates get a bracket but just because I live in a state that doesn't I get a giant unfinished rat hole. Why not make a cheap plastic filler grille for the non-plate states..or give me the bracket so i at least feel like I got a complete truck?

And the rear wheel liners...just installed the OEM ones from Ford. I love paying $135 for $20 worth of recycled water bottles. But at least its done now and looks like it's not an XL from the side. I can understand not putting them on 100% of the trucks, no doubt some buyers don't notice or care. But once you are into the FX4 Lux you would think they'd want to put forward a little bit nicer look.

I now have a complete truck, you're welcome Dearborn.

A moderately rust resistant coating on the brake & suspension bits would be nice but I've given in to accepting that it will be a nice deep orange by the time I have 3,000 miles on it.

Ecoboost or 5.0? The center "hole" in the EB needs to be left open for intercooler cooling, the bracket on those attaches to the side of it.

I'd rather see a longer warranty period from the factory, myself.

Instead of having to spend 1000$ to extend the coverage to what most vehicles come with, these days.

No, I have the truck engine.

Yes, I'm aware of the intercooler thing even though it doesn't impact me....but that doesn't excuse the way it it looks leaving the factory.

Ford will smarten up and make the 100k warranty standard.....when they do I'll go in and trade my 05 for a new one. I do believe they are the last without a 100k warranty.

So the 5.0. All ford vehicles from 97 up have had some form of a hole in the front end. I can see why you're upset, but I don't see that big of an issue with it.

Yes, I've owned a 97, a 98, a 2001, and a 2006. The "hole" in those was more or less styled into the overall look of the front end. The 2009 and up is different in that the hole looks particularely unfinished with the exposed flanges and such.

I hate to inform you but that non-truck engine will tow circles around your truck engine.

that's one of the things on the 09+ f150's that sticks out like a sore thumb when I look at them also....that front bumper with the hole and frame horn bump stops.....imo

Give the truck engine the same kinda hardware as the non truck engine and it won't. The non truck engine is just cheating.

If you have an extra $7k laying around go ahead and throw forced induction on it. I was comparing stock to stock.
