2012 F150- Engine bogging down

5.0 engine. Does not happen all the time.
Sometimes after say, waiting to turn left at a red light, i'll take off and by the time I get through the intersection, truck hits third gear. While trying to accelerate now that I'm going straight, the engine just kind of bogs down. It doesn't quit or anything, just no guts. I really have no clue as to why.
Has anyone else run into this?

That engine makes is power at higher RPM's. If you try to accelerate right after it shifts to third it probably is at to low RPM's to have much power. I'd try manually holding it in 2nd through the same intersection and see if it does it again.

That said, I'd probably take it to the dealer and have it checked out under warranty.

Yeah our trucks seem to shift quite early for an improvement in gas mileage.

Thats what it seems like. Shifting up too early. Then when I want it to go, it just kind of lugs.

Try running around town in tow/haul mode for a few days. It should increase the shift rpm's and then you can compare to the response.

Never heard of that happening, but i'd just take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Might as well use that warranty!

Back to dealer tommorrow.
Maybe it's just me too. I can get pretty picky and tend to expect perfect.
It's just that it runs so great sometimes. Other times I think it doesn't. Idles really smooth, then at the next light it's a bit less smooth.
I guess we'll see.
Thanks for all the replies

May be the adaptive learning. How many miles on it? Still breaking in?
If you've been taking it easy then the adaptive will have it upshifting really early, at least that's what I found with my 2009. I got aggressive with it for a few weeks and it would hold gears slightly longer. In a straight line if you stand on it does it bog through 1 and 2?
If it's bogging down in a straight line when you get aggressive then I'd say you've got a problem.
If you think it's the adaptive you can reset it by unplugging the battery or trying the diamond bird trick:

Of course using a reputable tuner will cure the numb factory transmission tuning.

8500 miles. Just seems like it used to run better and smoother. You do kind of get used to the power these trucks have though.
Last 0-60 time was 7.3 sec. according to my Dashhawk. Is that about on par with most?
I did baby it when new. Maybe the adaptive learning.

That's off the pace jquittum...but who knows how accurate the gauge is? All 5.0s run close to 6 flat to 60 which makes me want one priddy bad!

What are all the stats on yer truck?

Sposta ride these sled dawgz hard to break them in properly! Maybe adaptive made yer truck real numb.

Did you read about diamond bird?

Haven't tried the diamond bird thing yet. Just tried full throttle from standing start, traction control off. Not even a chirp from the tires.
Will be putting some pressure on dealer tomorrow.
