What's my next move
What's my next move
I'm looking for a little advise on my next move with my very new truck
I have a 2012 FX4 Crew Cab -Ecoboost with 1700 miles (less than 60 days old).
So last week I hear a grinding noise while under power. Easy to replicate and as soon as I even let any pressure off the pedal it stops. I do a search on the forums and find other with the same symptoms and many have been able to pin point it to some part of the IWE system.
I take it into the dealer last Thursday. Monday, I call and they say the have been able to replicate the noise and now they are trying to figure out what it is.
Today I get a call telling me the truck is done and the noise is "normal". No Way! I question the service writer and he claims the tech has called Ford and been able the hear the noise on a very simular truck they have at the dealer. I reluctantly say OK and ride down to get it. I load it up and drive away up a small hill and at 30/35mph it happends again. I have the windows open and it is LOUD. I pull around and head back to the dealer. I tell the service writer that if this noise is normal, I want my money back, because that is horrible.
I take the service writer for a ride and we hear the noise at the same spot, I look over and tell him that this scraping sound is NOT normal.
She is now again at the dealer for another day (10% of my ownership my truck has been at the shop)
I was also the one who found a hole in the bottom my battery covered with black tape. This left me stranded on another holiday weekend.
So what's my next move with the dealer?
Thanks in advance,
B.

I think that the warranty would be honored at any Ford dealership, so if there's a another dealer in the area, you should probably take it to a different dealer. Sounds like either the tech didn't properly communicate the sound to Ford HQ or you're getting the run-around at your current dealer. I can't recall the last time I ever heard a scraping sound on a vehicle that meant "everything's fine".
