Platinum step bars on FX4

Hey guys, I haven't been on here in awhile. I just bought a new 2012 white FX4 with ecoboost, and it didn't come with any step bars. What I really want is the platinum powered steps that come out when you open the door. Is there anyone that has done this mod that could point me in the right direction or let me know where to buy them?

I'm sure you can get them at the dealership.

Check into AMP Research - same product. I would compare their price (around $1,200 I think) vs what you're going to pay at Ford.

I have the AMP Research Powersteps on my 12' FX4 and love them. I am pretty sure that AMP makes the power steps for Ford as I remember somebody saying that at one time. I paid $1,050 for mine and they are definitely worth it!

Also, even though AMP Research makes the power steps for Ford, I've read that the motors are not interchangeable forcing you to buy replacements at the Ford parts counter. Finally, considering that buying the stock oval or square step-bars from Ford would be more than $500, the power steps are well worth twice that price as they are ten times more useful.

I USED to love the power running boards, until I counted how many door dings were on my truck from parking lot interactions with careless people. Power running boards don't stick out past the doors for protection.

Now I have black factory boards on my 2012, and unless its another tall truck, they hit my running board with their door! MUCH better!! I love it when I'm sitting in my truck and someone totally prangs their door edge and the only damage I have is a mark on my rock chipped, cheap to replace boards.

In fact, I think I'm going to sit down and draw up a set of power nerf bars. When the truck is shut off and the doors are closed, the nerf bars extend out and up to protect from door dings (even against SUV's and other trucks). Just need to essentially reverse the motion of the normal powersteps.

Need to ponder on this a little...

I have a pair I just picked up, but haven't put them on yet. They came off of a gray platinum and I have a gold and white KR. I need to either paint to match or line-x them. Just need time. I guess that doesn't help, sorry.
