Trail Grapplers on stock 20's
I actually made them. I got some scrap black vinyl from my friend's graphics/sign shop, cut out some black X's and covered up the red X's on the stock decals. It took a few tries before getting them perfect. Sometimes I'm so creative I scare myself.
Most people don't seem to like mud terrains in the winter. But I've been running them year round for several years on my DD Bronco and I don't have a problem with them. I ran the F150 a few times last winter with Trail Graps and I didn't have any problems with them either. So I guess it comes down to what you are used to. To me M/Ts are much better in the winter than the 4x2 truck I drove 30 years ago with snow tires and weight in the back. Maybe the people that don't like M/T's in the winter are in more of a hurry than me?
Yah that may have been my truck you saw. My tires are 295/60/20 (34").But keep in mind my 4x4 had about 1.5" more clearance than a 4x2 at stock height. Without a leveling kit about the largest Trail Grappler I would dare to recommend to you is a 295/55/20. That would be a little under 33". I've seen a guy run 305/55/20 (33")Terra Grapplers on a 4x2 and claimed he had no rubbing. But the Trail Grapplers run a little taller so I wouldn't dare to recommend that size in a Trail Grappler without a leveling kit.
Is this the truck you saw with Trail Grapplers?

I have 285/55R20 Toyos now and was looking for a bit more sidewall.
I wish Nitto or Toyo would make a 285/60R20 AT but no such luck... yet. Only Goodyear so far.
They probably would fit. The worst case scenario is: you may need to trim a little plastic.
