Color Choices Gone?
Color Choices Gone?
Anyone hear anything about a few colors not being available anymore? I ordered a 2012 Lariat on the 15th in golden bronze with adobe two tone which I loved the look of. Today a Ford rep called my dealer and said that golden bronze, the dark blue, and red metallic have been removed from the lineup and not able to be ordered anymore. So the only darker colors now are sterling metallic, green, and black. They also said the tan interior is only available on the F250 and up as well. This has ruined my purchase experience and what I wanted now. Probably will go black/adobe wth required black interior.
Ford said it's not because of low supplies but just removed from the lineup altogether due to the 2013 line starting soon. Anyone maybe know if this is true or if they just don't have the stock of it and want to complete the order? Won't kill me but sucks as I picked the lariat specifically because of that color combo over the FX4.

Idk if its possible but id cancel my order and hold out for possibly for a 2013 in the color i wanted. Colors a big deal for me at least....u have to like what ur buying not just settle for what's easily available IMO.
Not that I wouldn't mind the 2013 but with 0% financing and the price I'm paying for the 2012, and incentives, can't justify it. I went to a couple dealers asking on the 13's and not one would even come close to invoice on an order, plus higher financing. I'm in CA which is horrible for buying vehicles unless end of the year model.
Black isn't bad but they said that the color i want won't be available on the 13 model either, so regardless I'm out of luck.

I hate light colors so was down the black or the dark green. My top two are gone now. I tried for the Kodiak brown that the 13's are getting but Ford won't do it since it's technically a 13 color only. I'll be happy with black, but it was number three on my color choice.
The local dealers only have white and silver on the lots and my configuration isn't sold much around me, so it's hard to find one without ordering. Not to mention within 800mi of me there was only one supercrew/6.5ft bed with 4x4, and it was a basic XLT in white. If I wanted the 5.5ft bed there were tons to look at, but that wasn't an option.

With so many White, Black and Silver truck's on the road around here I'm glad I was able to get a Golden Bronze with the Adobe trim. My second choice was a Pale Adobe that looked like the Arizona Beige on my '04 which I really liked. Wish Ford would offer more color choices then the basic's for a little different look.
I had decided on getting my 2012 XLT in Pale Adobe with the light tan interior, until I noticed that the instrument cluster dial pointers/highlights and controls nomenclature backlighting were in an electric blue color... then I switched to the better-matching gray interior, which then drove out the silver exterior paint color selection.
I have always tended toward the lighter paint colors which don't show dirt/grime as badly between washings, and seem to be a bit cooler in the summer sun here in the South.

If you have friends or family in other parts of the country, why don't you see if there are dealers around them that have what you want. If they do, you could consider taking a trip to see them and pick up a truck while you're at it.

I just checked the NWS forecast for our area of Alabama and the next few days, and they are showing Friday: 104*, Saturday: 105*, and Sunday: 104*.... and some other forecast temps are even higher than that.
Too darn hot for me! What part of Alabama you're in?
PawPaw: you have basically what i wanted.
As for waiting and ordering later: the colors I wanted aren't available for 13 either so doesn't help. It's about a $7k difference right now between bottom prices on 12 vs 13 so I'll take a different color to save that cost.
In CA you can't bring a vehicle from out of state if it's less than 6 months old AND atleast 7500mi. So I cant buy out of state. I found one I wanted in Idaho but doesn't matter because of that. Black/adobe still looks good, just would have preferred different. Not many black trucks around here anyway. 90% are white or silver.
Will be selling/trading it for a 15 model or so regardless as I usually go 2-3yrs on trucks.
