Question I need experienced feedback / opinions

I'm overseas and looking at ordering a 2013 FX4. I currently own a 2010 Lariat Screw.
I really like the truck but long story shot I'm planning on selling it and getting a FX4 or possibly another Lariat.

My question is, what is the difference between the FX4 & Lariat other than the grill and tires? Is there anything interior wise that I may be missing out on? I don't have the luxury of trotting off to the dealer and doing a comparison, my only source of info is the Ford webpage and here. Also in ordering the 2013 it seems that there are quite a few options left out. Sony Nav radio, color options etc. Should I wait a few weeks before trying to place this order. It is through the Exchange New Car Sales on base.

Thanks for all the input.

Well, you get the 3.73 electric locker standard with the FX4 (but you could get the Off Road Package in a Lariat 4X4 and get the 3.73 locker plus skid plates). Secondly, the FX series only come with black interiors--not sure if heated/cooled captain's seats are an option with the upgrade packages...I'm sure someone will chime in about that.

Thanks.
I really like the all black interior but I'm more inclined to keep the heated/cooled seats also.

Also the guage cluster is different. Red for FX4, blue for the Lariat. The wheels are also styled unique for the FX4. A quick note is the presence of the "black surround" for the rear taillights, which gives it a much sportier look than the "silver surround" on all the other models.

Painted Bumpers, FX4 comes with, on the Lariat it is an option.

Just curious if you have a 2010 and nothing is wrong with it why you would want to traded it in you would have almost 3 years of it paid off.

My truck is paid off and I was made an offer for my truck which is about $750 below what I paid for it. Other than level kit, tires and bed liner it seems like a good deal and chance to trade up. I like the truck but I'd like to choose a truck that I pick the options and not the dealer. I don't care for the chrome package, sony amp in the back etc. Just some options I'm considering.

I just picked up a 2012 FX4 with FX Luxury Package. Leather seats in it are heated and cooled. Other main difference, I know of, is Lariat comes with an auto setting for 4wd & FX4 does not. FX4 definitely looks sportier!

you can get the two trucks configured almost identically. I go between them all the time... a few questions that make the decision easy.

Do you like chrome (bumpers & Grille especially)?
If yes - Lariat If no - either FX4 with PTM bumpers OR Lariat 2 tone, which forces your color options to fewer colors and a lower panel tan color. Lariat will still have chrome light (head and tail) surrounds, and a chrome grille.

What color interior do you like?

Black? both available Tan? Lariat Only

Do you like fake wood grain on your interior (2013 is dark wood similar to 2012)
Yes? - Lariat No? - FX4

Do you want 4Auto (Automatic 4WD)
Yes? Lariat No? FX4

There are subtle differences like wheels and the FX4 Appearance package. 2013 also has HID headlights, on the Lariat they're rumored to be included, the FX4 they're rumored to be an Option. Probably won't make too huge a difference in cost. Both models have Heated/Cooled front seats (with the buckets) so that's a moot point. the platinum and probably limited (new for 2013) have heated rear seats.
