Tool Box dilemma .. UWS or Weatherguard
So I am looking at either a UWS or a Weatherguard ..
Is the Weatherguard worth the additional $350 ? I don't carry a ton of weight around, but what I do carry needs to be safe and clean and dry.
Has anyone had experience with both? I had a Weatherguard on my '93, which was the last time I had a box on any of my trucks.
I will be going with a Diamond plate crossover box either way.

I've never had a weather guard but have 2 uws tool boxes and they are great. But I personally don't like the handles on the front of the box. Here is my reason for that. When you have the bed of the truck fully loaded up to the toolbox how are you going to open the lid? I like the handles on the sides of the boxes like what weather guard does.
I bought a Rawson-Koenig box in 2003. It will be going into its 3rd truck pretty soon (315,000 miles combined) and it has the handles on the ends and it is a single lid diamond box. I cut out a piece of plastic bedliner to fit in the bottom and lube the pivots about once a year. I would not go cheap on a box as this one will last 20-30 years pretty easy. A guy I work with bought a cheapo and wore a hole through the aluminum in about 2 months. Plus it was real flimsy and started cracking at the welds.
I recommend Weatherguard. This was my first truck, and thus my first truck toolbox purchase as well. After doing some research, I found out that Weatherguard was the top of the line. While I don't carry around thousands of dollars worth of tools myself, what I do carry around I want to be safe and I wanted something that would last awhile. I plan on keeping my truck for 10+ years, so the extra money was worth it to me. Had the Weatherguard low profile toolbox for two years now and not one problem with it.

Well, spent about an hour today at the toy store looking at boxes. After talking to the guys for a bit, I decided to go with the UWS. I was very happy with the overall quality fo the box, and the kicker was the ability to key it to the truck's ignition key, so I don't have to worry about another key on my ring.
thanks for the input y'all, it was very helpful ..

I'm looking at tool boxes too and narrowed to a UWS box I like. What finish seems to hold up the best over time? I see black ones fade and some peel and the Polished finish seems to oxidize on a lot of the trucks I see. I am pretty good at keeping my truck cleaned with regular washings and waxing as necessary so I'm hoping that will help either finish last.
The Weahterguard is worth the extra money! I had one on my Superduty when I was hauling boats across country. always kept my clothes and blankets dry. Very well built. I had the black because I personally hate any chrome on my truck but worth every penny. I will be putting one on this new truck too.
There is a company that makes an upgraded lock for the UWS that allows you to rekey with your truck key. The truck supply store switch the lock out for me.
They also sell hitch receiver locks and padlocks that will rekey to the truck ignition key.
The brand is Bolt Lock.
