Alarm issues leading to truck not starting

A little bit of background info:
Last week my truck randomly decided not to start after unlocking the truck via the key fob (typical dealer installed alarm). It would crank (stereo turned on, lights worked), just would not start. After a couple minutes I tried it again and all was well.

Fast forward to this week and same thing happened. I figured it was the alarm but wasnt sure. I had to have a flatbed tow truck take it to the shop after it refused to completely start. I did notice the alarm light that flashes red on the dash flashing when i tried to start the truck.

The shop said it would not turn over for them as well, so they pulled the fuse block(not sure the name of it) thats located near the kick panel on the passenger side. Once that was pulled they could start the truck just fine.
Now we know its alarm related.

I want to avoid the dealer at all costs since the truck is out of warranty and they will rip me a new one. I called around and got some quotes on an aftermarket alarm but dont want to go this route until I know without a doubt this will solve the problem. Anyone ever experienced this? Suggestions?
