Put up some pics when you get the SHO!

I'll keep my real truck Hydro.

See, you got lucky on your choice. All us 5.5' folks were duped into buying "non-real" trucks. I'm pissed. I think i'll call Ford and tell them to quit building non-trucks and demand they give me a SHO or 6.5' truck. Now I feel like yelling at college kids for wearing tight pants and crazy hair-do's because that's not real adults either

I get it now.... There is a direct correlation between skinny jeans and 5.5' beds!

Don't yell at the girls though!

I have a 10' SCREW FX4 with the 6.5 bed. I have used the extra room many times and like being able to close the gate with my cargo. I have drove both and don't really notice any difference. Parking is easier with the shorter bed. If I was not going to haul much I would probably have gone for the shorter bed. I like the look of the 6.5 lifted a little better.

6.5 is the shortest bed I would ever own. I had one for a year and my dad still has one on his 06 screw, I now have a Scab/8' and have used the full bed lots of times. Just park in the back and walk an extra 50 ft :jester:

6.5' vs 8'

C'mon ak_cowboy, I live in Los Angeles, there ain't no back parking. Every lot is packed and you're tickled pink to find an end spot. That way you hug the non-car side and feel good you won't have a door ding from some jack-hole.

I missed the LA part. Fugg that, buy a bike and leave the truck at home

motorcycle bike, not pedal bike

My vote is for a 6.5'. For me also it is the smallest bed I would buy. This pickup will do most things for me, but I am still on the search for another 8ft bed cummins reg cab when its needed. I like this 6.5 crew sloshbox, and plan on keeping it for quite some time but have a soft spot (and need) for an 8ft bed. We have a 5.5 f150 at work and it sold me on how useless that box was. And the resale on the 6.5 is higher as there are far fewer of them around.

I'm sure for a city slicker it's fine. If you ever need to haul a load of lumber or a bale or two, it may be a bit difficult, especially with a tool box.

x2 about the tool box! My 05 KR had the 5.5' bed and you can see how much useable space there was in the bed for hauling.... Not much! In fact I think I had more useable space in my Ranger.

My 2010 has the 6.5' with a tool box also and I can now use the bed for hauling again!

IMO the bed does look a little long at stock height and without a tool box but with a tool box it looks just right! And of course I will also agree with most that its better lifted! Mine is getting 6" lift installed tomorrow and I can only hope it turns out like Ruffn-it's truck which is pretty B.A.
