2012 F150 Test Drive

Test drove a 5.0 liter F150 Screw FX2 and was impressed. Factore exhaust had a nice little rumble to it. Leather seats and center gearshift with automatic sliding rear window plus other options. Popped the hood on one and there is much more room to work than my 03. Changing plugs and coils would be an easy affair. MSRP was 40k which is too rich for my blood but a new XLT Screw will be in the works when the 2013s come out. But I might have to step up to FX2 cause I need those power mirrors to get into the garage. Ah the dilemna of buying a new truck!!!!

I almost bought an FX2 but ended up with an XLT. Main reason was the FX2 was at a dealer I did not want to have to drive to while the XLT was very close. I'm satisfied with it and the 5.0 is the perfect engine for me. Put 26,500 on it in 9 months.

XLT Screw MSRP probably isn't going to be to far south of 40k. My 2012 MSRP is now 42,300. Mine is 4wd and nicely equipped.

I like the truck but had tow package with backup cam and integrated trailer brake. I have never towed with my current truck so that would not benefit me. Priced an XLT which started at 38k msrp and with incentives price was a tad over 32k but I have seen better prices than that. Gonna look to buy around November which is when I bought my current 03 Screw and the 2013s are out. But I need those power mirrors to get in and out of my garage easily. Those don't come on the XLT.

You can probably retrofit them.... or get a bigger garage door. Goodluck on your search. I got my truck off the lot at 34 before my trade equity, so you can definitely get them down. The only issue I would see with a buying a '13 in November would be the fact that the rebates won't be there most likely.

Exactly. And take the emotion out of it.

you do know you can get power mirrors in a xlt. my xlt had power, heat, turn signal and dimming before the tow mirrors got installed! now my tow mirrors are just power adjust turn signal and puddle light. look around you can even find power fold in the xlt but then your looking at all the packages that push the truck up to your limit or even past!
