2012 Center Console Changes

I just recently bought a Console Vault for my 2012 Raptor with flow-through center console. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit. I contacted the company and they said that they were not aware of any changes from 2011 to 2012 or between Raptor and non-Raptor consoles. Below are pictures of the inside of my 2012 console. Could someone with a 2012 non-Raptor please let me know if your console is the same on the inside, with the power outlet and small kick-out section at the front?

Thanks!

It is different, my 2012 has the power port but not the other part. Does ford offer ambient lighting in the 2012 raptor? Since the raptor has the upfitter switches the ambient lighting switch would need to be relocated but that is just a guess.

Thanks for the reply Pat247.

What I'm finding is that some 2012 Raptors have the kick-out and some don't. It appears that Ford may have had a mid-year redesign that added it. I told Console Vault that I would check on some of the F150 forums to see if it is just Raptors that have this or if the rest of the 2012 F150 line had the same change.

Anyone else?

what's that little kick out do? or is it just lost space because something hidden inside the console needed a little more space?

Not really sure, but it might be a hint of what's coming for 2013. Maybe a new location for a SYNC USB port?

I pulled the cover to see what's inside, here's what I found - just an empty space:

When you spoke to Console Vault, did they offer to make the necessary modifications on a model variance to accommodate the difference? If not, I will make some new pieces to create a new model that will fit. My current model is here;

I spoke with one of the owners (Scott) and he indicated that if this was an F150 fleet wide change, they would probably investigate the engineering changes and produce a variant of the 1026 vault to accomodate the mid-year change. However, if it only applies to Raptors, it would probably not be adopted since it's such a small market.

So are you guys making the changes on your own or in conjunction with Console Vault?

I am making my own, as I no longer buy from Console Vault. I have a unit to fix the problem they wouldn't with the Silverado, where their model blocked a USB port and Power Port. I have a model that replaces the 1026, and can make pieces to address your problem. I was a distributor for CV last year, but they decided they no longer want distributors. If you send me an email to bobby (at) lockerdown.com I will tell what I need from you as far as measurements and in turn, I will sell you one for your own vehicle at half price.
Thanks,
Bobby
BTW, I went to two Ford dealers today looking for a Raptor and couldn't find one.

I'm pleased to see you guys are making your own design changes and getting ahead of this.

After more than six weeks of not hearing anything back from Console Vault, I contacted them to see if they had made a decision regarding a redesign. Their response was to send me an RMA so that I could return my vault.

I guess that means they have nothing in the works for the new console design.

I gave it some thought and decided it couldn't be too difficult to modify the side bracket to work with the new Ford console design. I took a few measurements, grabbed a cut-off wheel and got busy. After making the cut, I cleaned up the rough edges, applied some flat black paint, and bolted everything together. Now it fits great!
