Brake controller question.

Have a 2011 150c/c, 5.5 bed. Also have the trailer tow pkg, not the max tow. I need a brake controller. Looked aat the ford accessory unit and not impressed. Years ago I had the Tekonsha Prodigy and it worked flawlessly, however, I do not see it advertised any longer. What unit should I get? Would prefer not to have one that needs to be mounted level to calibrate or work properly. However, if that is a requirement, so be it. Open to all but Tekonsha is what I am familiar with.

OK found the Prodigy, Is there another to recommend?

I had the prodigy on my 06 and it worked well. I am looking for one on a 2012 and see the prodigy only has it listed up to 2011. They run about 140

What do you see in the ford factory accessory that you do not like? Cleaner install, without having to tap into anything has to have some value....

^^^ this.

it functions w/ the screen, fits cleanly into the dash, and can be just as cheap as the prodigy. So far i have no complaints w/ my factory unit i added. $95 from tasca + $$$ flash from dealership

The factory controller integrates with the PCM - it's really the best way to go.

I have the factory one and I'm very happy with it.. Functions great and as mentioned in previous post, clean install and interfaces with dash display.. It took less than an hour to install and the dealer just has to flash the computer, which they did for me at no charge.

I'd say the Ford controller is a MUST have. It integrates with the ABS system and anti roll over stability control. It is 100 bucks and needs to be activated by the dealer. You can't beat the installation or performance...

I was pulling an 8k lb enclosed car hauler with my 2010 when a semi blew by me and initiated severe trailer sway. The Ford trailer stability program kicked on and straightened the rig out quickly.
This isn't 1999.

depends on the year truck. 2011+ are 94 from tasca. 09's have a display which cause it to be more expensive

Mine is a 2010. If I have the part number right AL3Z-19H332-AA, tasca's price is $169. It doesn't have the display.

I paid $95 for mine through a friend. My build date was October or November of 2011. Local Ford dealer charged me $97 with tax to program it, hourly rate, which sucks because it only takes them 5 minutes to do.

BL3Z-19H332-AA is the part number that I used.
