Honestly, 2600 lbs is a lot to cram in a trailer that size. And your tongue weight shouldn't be 1000 lbs.

I like to have plenty of truck to tow with, but I think you would be fine for that trailer with an F150. To be on the safe side, maybe look at the HD payload package, which will give you several hundred more pounds of payload.

Now, with that being said, since you don't have a trailer yet, what if you find one you like better, but it weighs an extra couple thousand pounds? Then you have a mess. If you can wait on the truck, I would pick out your trailer first, then buy your truck. That way you get the truck you need.

Also, if you want to stay with a light weight travel trailer, check out Flagstaff or Rockwood made by Forest River (http://www.forestriverinc.com/nd/lit...l_trailers.asp). We are on our second Flagstaff (first was a 27' TT, currently we have a 31' fifth wheel) and we love them. You get a lot of trailer for the weight. Our 27' TT weighed 4400 lbs. empty, and it had a large slide and bunks. It's tongue weight was < 400 lbs, and it towed like a dream with no sway at all.

It looks like we will finally submit a truck to be built this Friday!

2012 F-150 FX4
Ecoboost
157" Wheelbase
Ingot Silver (probably) with 18" wheels
Max Trailer Tow Package
FX Plus Package
FX running boards (probably) Better options?
Rear View Camera (probably)

We decided to look towards a trailer like the Passport 190EXP down the road in stead of the Outback 210RS. This truck will definitely handle the Passport. We are coming from a popup, so it would be a nice improvement.

Since the build is expected to take 6-8 weeks, any idea if rebates will improve as 2013 orders begin? I already missed out on the local auto show discounts.

Think again. The ridiculously wimpy hitch receiver Ford puts on the max tow is rated for only 1130 lb. tongue weight (with weight distribution). I've seen travel trailers that weighed 8800 lb. dry with dry tongue weights of 1400 lb.

You can now get a 36 gl. tank on 2wd.

I wouldn't change a thing on your choice. As far as running boards go I have the chrome ones with the curve at the ends. Not sure what the width is. They came as part of the chrome package I believe. Anyway I really like them. Didn't want them and wouldn't of ordered them if I was ordering a new truck but I'm glad they were on the one we bought. If I was ordering a new F150 I would definately get the HD package. You are looking at TT's and once you get your truck with the HD it will open up more choice for TT's. Payload is the biggest factor with 1/2 tons. Having the HD package gives you more payload which will make choosing what TT you want easier. Theres also some 5th wheels out there that you could tow comfortably with your configured F150.

Ran some more numbers through my towing spreadsheet (very eye opening). The FX4 will be pushed to the payload limit by a hybrid TT. So HD payload it is. I will keep looking for aftermarket running boards.

Now, color. Hmmm...

Exactly what I thought when I placed my order, expecting next week. I dont even have a trailer yet but i figured better to have options vs running out of options so I went with the 6.5' box and Hd payload in my order, good to go for 10 plus years (I hope) lol new to trucks too..

BTW, what are thoughts on these accessories? I will be placing my order tomorrow night.

Ford Remote Starter
Wheel locks
Chrome exhaust tip
Black vinyl flooring instead of carpet

I will probably go with the Ford black tubular running boards and add them after the truck comes in. I wonder if the SuperDuty three mount version would work on the F-150.

Any other options that need to be addressed when ordering? I'm adding the rear view camera.

I just placed my order not to long ago for my 2012 and if your going HD Payload I think you can only get it with XL, XLT and Larait. I dont think you can go FX4 with HD payload. I went with xlt and added fogs, rear view cam, and rear defrost window, then 1000 accessories gave me chrome running boards, stone deflector and rubber floor mats.

Ford Remote Starter - figured out
Wheel locks - doesn't matter
Chrome exhaust tip - doesn't matter

Anyone gone with the Black vinyl flooring instead of carpet? Pros/cons? I think this is the last piece of the build.

Honestly, I would go with the carpet unless you are always out working in the mud. I just prefer carpet, and with some good floormats, it really isn't that hard to keep clean.

I run a Lariat for several reasons over the XLT.

I would get the carpet then add something like the Husky Liner floor coverings. I run those full width in the front and rear. They are a lot nicer to be able to pull out and scrub if need be, whereas the textured factory rubber mat is virtually impossible to get clean again.

Try the seat in a Lariat if you can. When I bought, the dealer convinced me that Ford uses a different foam in their Lariat seats than they do the XLT. If the XLT if comfortable for you, great, but for me, I spend too much time behind the wheel and the Lariat seat was far more comfortable. If you plan to haul anyone in the rear seat, sit back there as well, it was night and day difference on the quality of the seating in the Lariat. I also like the leather for the ability to keep it clean with a damp rag. Not everyone needs it, but when I am working and jump in with wet/dirty gear it is nice to swipe the leather and be back to clean again. The cloth interior collects dust which really irritates my nose after a while. The leather maintains a lot cleaner cabin in that respect.
