Down Arrow on Trip Meter

Does anybody know what the down arrow by the gas pump symbol on the trip meter is for? This would be on the new LCD screen style.

From the owners manual:

This displays instantaneous fuel economy as a bar graph ranging from ↓
poor economy to ↑ excellent economy.
Your vehicle must be moving to calculate instantaneous fuel economy.
When your vehicle is not moving, this function shows ↓, one or no bars
illuminated. Instantaneous fuel economy cannot be reset.

Never noticed that before. May have to check to see if mine shows that tomorrow. Anyone seen an "up" arrow there?

I don't think it has anything to do with MPG. I got 21to all winter and the past 2 weeks it has warmed up and I am getting 22-23ready MPG.

I first thought it was something to do with the amount of gas but it has never changed. I guess it will be one of those things we will never know.

Maybe it's just part of the icon signifying gallons used.

Maybe one of those meaningless indicators. Maybe when off its not on ? Maybe when filling it points up ?
