Check your pirellis - a reminder!!

So. Went to put my Pirelli ATRs (20's) back on the truck today after the winter. Interior sidewalks were all cracked badly on all 4 tires. Around 4000 miles on them. Ford is covering them completely under warranty and told me that there is an "issue" with the pirellis. I asked for another brand however they wouldn't do it. Too bad. Anyway they are ordering new ones. Mine were made early 2011. Bought the truck in July.

I just walked out to check mine. I bought the truck Oct 1 and it has <gasp> 8,000 miles on it. Tires look great though.

Yeah. I just wanted to remind people to check. We don't need another firestone fiasco.

Mine were cracked on the exterior and interior sidewalls. Too bad they had too much wear already by the time I noticed and I had to pay to replace them. I hated the poor performance anyway and didn't want another set of the same junk, so I replaced them with Terra Grapplers. I'm much happier now.

I have the GoodYear Wrangler SR-A tire on my 2010 FX4. All four look good inside and out. Are these known to have the same issue? My truck has 15K and no issues so far. I'm wondering why my truck didn't come with Pirelli's.

I've noticed more people with the ATR's are having the issues versus the STR's. I wonder why that is though? Aside from the tread pattern and style and one claiming to be the all terrain versus the street tire, I don't see much difference. I've got 15k on my 20" STR's w/ no problems or cracking at all.

It was obvious from day 1 that the ATRs sucked so I sold mine on Craigslist with 600 miles. At the time there was no sidewall cracking. That was 11 months ago, I wonder how they are holding up now?

I'm pretty sure you only get Pirelli's if you get 20 inch wheels. Goodyears on 18's. No issues with the Goodyears that I know of.

Yeah I have the 18s. No issues with these but I can't figure out why Ford would put these on an fx4. A little more aggressive all terrain tire would be nice.
