out with the 2002 and in with the 2011

Had the 2002 for 7 years and with the birth of our first child it had to go since the car seat wouldn't fit in the xcab.

In comes the 2011 XLT

Looking forward to many camping trips with the 2011.

Nice! I'll be in the same boat very soon. I've had my '03 scab for almost 8 years, but with kid #2 coming in June, the truck as got to go!

For the record, the car seat does fit in the middle of the back bench. Well it does on mine anyway, I don't have captains chairs, not sure what you have. I slide the passenger/middle front seat almost all the way up. I have to move my driver seat up as well to get my daughter in and out. You have to be insanely flexible and be able to bend your body in 12 different directions at the same time to get them in and out. Then you have to park crazy far away in hopes no one parks close to the truck so you can get both doors open to get them back in. Yeah... IT SUCKS! But my 3 year old loves riding in daddy's truck! With #2 on the way, my wife has finally given me the green light for an upgrade!

Enjoy your new truck!

Congrats, looks good. I also went from a 01 2wd screw that I had for 6 years to a 2010 screw fx4.

I never really had issues like this with my '05 SCAB ---- were the previous generation S/C's that much smaller? (my '97 was a regular cab - i was single then )

--- doesn't matter , you will love a new crew cab anyway -- but i never really felt too handicapped with my previous S/C unless i had adult passengers in the back

There is virtually no difference in legroom for the '03s as compared to the '04s up. The big difference, and what I would assume to be the reason the OP bought a SCREW, is that getting a childseat in and out of a SCREW is infinitely easier than a SCAB.

Yes, it has the 5.0.

The newborn carseat that clicks into the base fit, but the next size up that he will be in until he is 55 lbs. won't fit even in the middle with the pass. seat all the way up. I am 6'3" I can't move the driver's seat up at all. If it fit we would have kept the 2002 as its the best car we have ever owned.

Enjoy the new rig! I am sure you are amazed in the world of difference between your '02 and '11. I went from a '99 to a '04 and was amazed, then got rid of my '04 and went back to my '99 (dad kept it) and then went to a '10 and now my '12. I loved all of the F-150's I've had, but these new ones are just unreal! Congrats on the new one! Any plans for tricking it out?

Congrats on the new born and the truck, the back seat area is even bigger from the 04-08 to 2011+. I bought my 05 because my second son was born. Mustang wasnt cutting it even thought they were never in it.

As for "making it mine" Possible additions will include: replacing the amber reflectors on the mirrors with black, backup camera, shocks, mud flaps, interior LEDs, K&N drop in, & either helper springs or maybe airbags, to help the squat when towing.
