front end options?

Just bashed up my front end a couple days ago. I have an 09 xlt and I need new headlights, grille and front bumper. I like the looks of the harley grill/lights and the fx4 looks nice with the horizontal bars painted. Not sure which route to go. Tasca emailed me back yesterday and said the HD grille is on back order.

I also did some reading about Tasca. I need these parts to be ontime so my bodyshop can get started. Anyone have any suggestions? Everything with the insurance company is happening so fast, I want to make the right choices and be happy with the outcome.

chances are the insurance company is only going to replace the truck back to OEM specs. They potentially might pay for OEM and if you wanted say harley you would make up the difference. I wouldnt expect to have much of a choice beyond whats OEM.

Your body shop can order everything you want but most dont want to bother.

True and say you have Geico and they are paying 4 grand to have it fixed, well thats all they care about. If your body man gives you different lights for 4 grand then so be it.

Like supercrew said most reputable places are not willing to play games and go against insurance companies anymore. Good luck.

No I understand. I'm going to pay the difference. I want to put the money they give me towards an upgraded front end.

Heres my two cents again. For one I think its going to be a crap shoot if youe body man will do anything but OEM spec. You will have to discuss with him on this. Like I said he may not want to mess with insurance and second he may not want you coming back a week later and saying this doesnt work or does fit. But for sake of the arguement if you were to do something different I would still say OEM whether it be the harley or whatever. But take this mind if you do something that isnt OEM, or something that isnt OEM to your truck say put harley stuff on an XLT. You may void your warranty on those parts as well. Lights arent usually a problem source. But the chrome is. I have had 3 fords in the last 3 years and all were 07s or newer. Two of them I had to have the chrome replaced due to pitting and flaking. Just so you know a grill on one of these is 300-400 bucks plus labor if you had to cover it. Personally leave it alone.

I'm pretty tight with the body shop. Since I've purchased my truck in 09, I've hit three deer, been backed into by an old lady, and now this. These aren't my only visits to the body shop either. I've had quite a few other vehicles too. So, I'm a pretty good customer. I'm pretty set on the hd headlights. It's a toss up between the 2011 FX4 grille and the 2010 HD grille. Tasca says Ford has the HD grille on back order. I'm assuming that means my only choice is the FX4 grille?

But, check this out. I JUST got an email from Tasca Tuesday saying the HD grille wasn't available.

BTW, f the warranty. Ford can kiss my ***. So far all the warranty work done on my vehicle can been shotty anyway. I'll take up chrome issues with the company I purchase my parts from.

With your kind of luck, the next time your grille is damaged, the insurance company will only pay to return it to stock condition leaving you on the hook for the difference...again.

Just got back from the body shop. If I could find a dealership as good as my body shop, I'd be set for life. That place is awesome. She's pumped to have the guys install/paint anything I want. I reassured her that the parts I'm looking at are oem ford parts. I just have to find a good deal now. Going to start with Tasca since they're close to me.

When I totaled my cbr929rr, the guy drove to my house and I listed everything aftermarket on the bike and all of my gear. He then went back to his car and printed a check to the total I gave him. He didn't even ask for receipts. I couldn't believe it.

I agree. But I'm not buying aftermarket items. Right? It's just the Ford HD edition headlights and a FX4 grille. I don't know. I'm really pumped. Going to call Tasca right now and see what they can do for me.

Alright. Ordered the HD headlights and taillights from Tasca last friday and received them today. Couldn't be happier. Items shipped in well secured and packaged boxes.

2011 FX4 grill was also ordered through the body shop.

I purchased factory 2010 FX2 20" wheels from "Milt IV" and also couldn't be happier. He went way out of his way to make sure the wheels shipped on time and well packaged. He is a very professional business man.
