Stop and go traffic sucks.

Well, this happened today. Ugh. Any thoughts on what I'm looking at (for those that this happened to)? Just looking underneath, I can tell there are things wrong with the hitch, and end of the frame nearest the bumper. Thank goodness the other party is insured!

Looks like you got lucky. Maybe just a new bumper and hitch, I don't see any real body damage. They should be able to fix the frame end pretty easily.

The tailgate is pushed up somewhat. The body lines don't match where they used to. Hope nothing got damaged with it.

That sucks! Sounds like it might be a little worse than it looks in the pictures.

Hopefully the one who hit you has insurance, or at least you have uninsured motorist insurance...

But otherwise, so long as there is no frame damage, it sounds like an easy repair that shouldn't require blending paint into the truck bed, which if not done properly, can be noticeable to the perfectionist and cause all kinds of heartburn to such an individual whenever they would look at it.

just a bumper and hitch I would think under $1000. Bumper hitch and new tailgate probably around 2 grand

For you it shouldn't cost anything since the other party was insured. Had the same thing happen to me but I had my hitch in, a guy fell asleep going 50 and I was stopped at a red light. Didn't touch my tailgate at all, but I sent a nice hole through that Dodges radiator.

If the tailgate has the man step and camera, just the tailgate is over 2,000$.

(That's why I bought a Master tailgate lock!)

Hopefully the insurance takes care of it all quickly for ya. Pictures don't look terrible though. Good luck

Sorry to hear about that. I hate when people aren't paying attention to whats going on. This is a thing that I dread thinking about.

Got an estimate today. Here's the rundown:

Bumper
Hitch assembly
Blend on both bed sides (due to bumper moving as it did)
New rail caps
New trim on bottom of bed sides

This was all on a very quick run through. They said once they have it, they'll do a more thorough under bed look. Total so far is $1800.

And, due to bad weather this past summer (a massive hail storm), there is a backlog at most good shops until June. Ugh...
