Ford's Extended Service Plan Reviews

I’m looking for some reviews/input on Ford’s Extended Service Plan (ESP) that Ford sells for the 7 year/125,000 mile period. I am coming up to the first year anniversary for my 2011 Platinum 4x4 and according to something I received in the mail I have to make a decision about purchasing the coverage. I currently have 10,700 miles on my truck and I have had ZERO problems and I really love this truck. Have any of you had good/bad experiences with it? I totally understand that all trucks CAN have things go wrong during this period of time and it is a gamble whether or not to spend the money for the coverage. But, it will be a no-brainer if people have had bad experiences with Ford’s coverage. Thanks in advance for your input.

Had a friend get two transmissions replaced using the Ford ESP. One at 75k and one at 90k miles. He just dropped it off and they fixed it without a problem. Huge advantage of the Ford ESP is that it's in their system and there's not as much messing around with approvals and what not. Based on that experience I went ahead and got one on my 2011 Ecoboost (6yr/100k/$0 ded.), with the new engine and what not I thought it would be nice piece of mind.

FWIW the dealer beat the online prices by a few bucks when I showed him the print out.

I know if Canada you can add a Ford ESP at anytime during the first 3 years/60000km (36000 miles). If you add it in first year/20,000km (12000 miles) it doesn't cost you anything extra but if you add it in year 2 or 3 there is a small admin fee ($100 in Canada, not sure about the US). If you are considering one definetely shop around. You guys in the US have some great on-line pricing, wish I could say the same about up here in Canada

Have looked here........http://www.warrickfordwarrantyonline...FQ8yhwodCzvZSw I signed up and then deleted it. A few days later they e-mailed me and sweetened the offer. Sounded like a good offer to me.

I just bought one today from: http://www.floodfordesp.com/

My factory warranty expires in just two days on my Platinum! And I'm having an issue with my passenger side power running board, it's going up and down very slowly. Probably the motor is going bad and from what I hear, the motor is expensive. I'm taking it in tomorrow. I already had the driver side running board fixed once. I got 3 more years of PremiumCare coverage, which should cover me until my next truck purchase (redesigned F150 2015?).

Normally I don't get extended warranties, but I finally decided at the last minute there's too much high tech stuff on this Platinum I rather not take a chance on.

Exclamation So, far, Anderson-Koch is the CHEAPEST on Ford ESP!

Was looking at some Genuine FORD ESP warranties.

Realizing that everyone is not a fan of them, i'll just comment that the post in this thread is for those who ARE perhaps interested in buying one.

I was considering one on my Ford F150 XLT 2012. I wanted a ZERO deductible. i wanted coverage for 7+ years ~ 70,000 miles ((I don't drive alot).

I found its best to search around ALOT!. Several FORD dealers thoughout the US sell these FORD ESP warranties online.

So, for example, if you are considering coverage for your 2012, you can get a discounted price if your truck has under 12,000 miles.....

Here is the WIDE variation of prices I found.

FORD ESP (directly from the FORD website--and same rates at most dealers) = staggering $1,655

FORDWARRANTYS.COM (Lombard Ford) = 1,084

ZEIGLERFORDESP.COM (Zeigler Ford) = 975

FLOODFORDESP.com = 925

TROYFORDESP = 875

Anderson-Koch = 835.

I had always bragged that ZeiglerFordESP was the best price, but a little more digging, I found THREE other dealers willing to sell less. Bottom line = $140 less.

So, I purchased the $835 one from Anderson-Koch.

I get peace of mind from an ESP knowing my truck will be covered for 7 years (sorta like insurance).

so, if you're shopping around, DEFINATELY compare before you click "BUY".

Thanks!!

they never responded to my inquiry, and they don't offer instant quotes on the website, so their loss!

haha, nope Flood Ford was still cheaper! I did spend about a half hour checking the different warranty websites, but I actually didn't come across Anderson before.

I only got the 6yr/36k PremiumCare with $50 deductible. I paid $445 from Flood Ford. That Anderson link wants $495 for the same plan. Now from what I see, some of these plans include the extra rental car coverage and some don't in their pricing. I still get basic overnight rental car with the Flood Ford plan I bought if I have to leave the truck overnight. From what I read, there's a "First Day Rental" option where they give you a rental car as soon as you drop the truck off at the dealer. Flood Ford charges $50 extra for it, so it would have been $495 total. Looks like Anderson includes the "First Day Rental" in their price, but then has a $40 delete option if you don't want it (so $495 minus $40 equals $455, still $10 more than the Flood Ford plan I bought).

I don't put many miles on so I only needed the 36k mile coverage. Hopefully the truck shouldn't have any problems in the next 3 years, but if the power running board breaks, or there's a problem with the Navigation, HVAC or heated/cooled seat, all which can be expensive, then I think the warranty will pay for itself. I already had the driver's side running board and power steering hose fixed under factory warranty. I'm at 17,200 miles right now, less than 6k miles per year average thanks to a very short work commute.

You really have to buy the ESP based on your driving/mileage needs.

I bought the 7 year/60,000 because of the fact that I only drive about 8,000-9,000 miles a year, and that averages to about 8,500 in that plan.

The two dealers were close, I mean by $10...That sure outweighs the couple others online that were more than $150 more.

I deleted the Rental Car option.

If your truck is only a year old you have time, but like gregsf said look at your mileage. These plans are always available up until your warranty expires, i get them every single year on my camaro that has its 3 year up this summer. The way all of us get rid of trucks in 2-3 years. And why not wait. They advertise these warranties for 7 years and ex miles. Well thats not true you have your original warranty, so really they are only giving you a 4 year bumper to bumper and 2 year power train.

That's why they call it an "extended" warranty. Its an extension of your 3/36 factory warranty, so you're actually paying for the "extension".
So, in mine, I have coverage for 7 years or 60,000 miles, which ever comes first...

If you sell the truck early, you can use the ESP as a selling point.
If you trade the truck early, you can get a pro-rated refund (Got all but $90 back on the Malibu I traded in).

I understand that and Im not saying its all bad, but for me doesnt make sense thats all. Personally if you get it say when your vehicle is new or 1 years old your paying for two warranties at the same time, because dont think your original warranty is free its a built in cost. I know you can get pro rated but you still paid for it, and a selling point I think thats more of a marketers gimick. I dont think these are bad ideas, but i dont see the sense in paying for it until the vehicles orginal is almost up. And the big money lies in the power train anyways and thats covered for 5 years anyway. Its insurance its legalized gambling and involved risk, do whats smart for you, but I never found it smart to have two paid insurance policies at the same time. Its like the warranty they want to give you for everything at the store now for a toasters and chit. A lot of them say two years but really for the first year all they will do is direct you to the manufacture or mail it to them back to you. You should have insurance but be smart about it don't let companies trick you into things.

I thank all of you for your replies. I will start my search for prices and see what I come up with. In the past I have not purchased these types of plans, but like SteveVXF4 I am a little concerned with all the gadgets my truck has. Be Safe...

you can argue to point all day. Each person is going to do what they feel is best for THEM!

P.S. I would never be "tricked" into doing anything I didn't want to. My purchase of a FORD ESP was my decision, and only mine, after much research of MY own.

the purpose of buying it "early" as you say, is to get a better rate. the rate goes up after 12,000 miles. and significantly after the bumper to bumper warranty is over.
