Muffler Drone?

Hi guys
Have a 2012 ecoboost with 3.55 rear end. I was pulling a trailer with 3 atvs on it last weekend for the first time when I would get up to about 70 mph I would occasionally hear what sounds to me like a muffler drone but not as loud as I am used to (Slight humming noise) now it does it with the trailer off when I get to that speed. If I let off the throttle it stops instantly. I have 3500 miles on it now. I plan on asking the dealer when I get the oil changed just wondering if anybody else has experienced that?
Thanks!

I would think it is more likely to be noise from the intake tract than the muffler. A stock muffler shouldn't isn't set up to drone. The intake tract on a turbo vehicle has a lot more places to make noise than a N/A motor.

I have nearly the same setup you do and will check next time I'm out. At 70 my truck is whisper quiet but there is just a touch of engine noise when I'm on the throttle.

FWIW,The EcoBoost is $1,750.00 more then the Base 3.7L V-6 and the 5.0 is $750.00 more then the Base 3.7L V-6.So that would only make the 5.0 $1,000.00 cheaper then the EcoBoost.

Later Mark.

Check your air filter box clamps and make sure everything is seated tight.
