5.4L to EB????
5.4L to EB????
Well.... My 2010 is sitting at the dealership and in my garage is a 2012 4x4 Screw XLT EB. It has pretty much all of the options except max tow. It is the 157" Wheelbase with a 3.31 rear. It is Dark Blue Pearl w/ Silver Ingot two tone. I am a pavement pounder who drives around 25k a year and its 90% highway. I have been debating stepping up to the Screw for a while and now with the new EB I am all but sold..... I love the power on tap and I am very intrigued about the potential for great hwy mileage. Never owned a Screw, but I have had 3 Scab's.... Now I know why they are all over the road... HUGE CABIN!
This is a tough decision especially with the rebates (4,500), ford coupon (750), and IL Farm Bureau coupon (500).... I haven't even began to haggle with them yet and they came out the gate at $23k for my '10 which is excellent blue book and they are currently at $500 over invoice. Invoice is 38,453...... I guess I will spend tomorrow at work formulating my rebuttal. Doubt I sleep well tonight... I will probably being dreaming about those Garrett GT15 Turbos......

The BorgWarner K04 is used on the 4 cylinder 2.0L EB used in the Explorer.
My bad.... thanks Wookie.
If you think you are getting a good deal and this is what you want/need go for it. I too have a 2010 and those new motors sound nice but my 5.4 seems plenty peppy for me and tows my 5k+ boat and trailer with ease even with 35's and a 6in lift. But just so you have both sides to debate, your talking about spending $16,000 just for a truck two years newer with the new engine, and upgrading to a screw. Again if you want/need the new truck and your in the position to go ahead. Just throwing out the 16k price tag for an updated truck.
That 16k would get me a used gt stang. Hope all works out for ya either way.

Go for it! You get the cool little screen in the gauge cluster too. With 25k miles a year your warranty is probably almost up on the 2010 anyway. Trade in value on the 2012 is going to be at least $11k more than the 2010 so your really not even spending the money, just kinda like taking out an equity loan on the new truck.
Don't let the guy with around $5000 worth of suspension/tires hound you about want vs need. JK ruffin-it, I love your truck.
