Question ESP....Yes or No??

I've got 35,000 on my 2010 STX 4x4 and really enjoy the truck. My 4.6 3v ticks like crazy, and they tell me it's the fuel injectors. In the back of my mind, I worry alot about it letting me down.
I just got the paperwork for Ford ESP. I gave them a call, it's $1794.00 till the truck hits 100,000 miles or 5 years old. That seems steep for basically 64,000 miles of warranty. Can you ****er with them, or is it even worth it? Are there better options out there? It's only a $100 deductible if anything goes wrong with it, but I don't know.
I'm bummed that Ford doesn't come with the 100,000 mile warranty like the other manufactures, but I knew that going in.

I'd vote no, if you are really worried set that $1,800 aside and if you have any issues use that money.

You can negotiate, I would try to get a few more years added on to it for that price.

When I bought mine, I got a quote for ESP too. It would have cost me $1795.00. Like some others have said, just set aside enough money for repairs when it happens. I think its a whole game with warranties and such. I never get them. Thats just me though.

Go to www.floodfordesp.com for a quote. They are always the cheapest. I am in no way afiliated with them. Saw them on another forum and getting ready to buy one too.

Well, I purchased the warranty with mine.......only because my dealer offers a 100% refund if you dont use it....Or, if I trade the truck in, I can deduct the cost from the new truck, or roll it over to the new one...

nope. unless they add more years . I would look at what your ownership strategy has been and will look like. Id rather use that 1800 bucks and save for a new truck

since the truck hasn't given you a bunch of teething problems I wouldn't get it. If you do get it and you get rid of the truck before the extended warranty is up, you can get a pro rated refund or roll it over as mentioned above. So you wouldn't be out all your money.

^^^^ This

IF you decide to get one. On a gasser truck, I wouldn't pay that price for an extended warranty. I did on my diesel (from www.floodforesp.com), and I used it to replace the radiator 1 month after the 3 year/36k was up (the radiator isn't covered by the 5 year/100k).

I did cheap inurance, other will disagree but it was worth it because I got the 7/75K for 1450.00 from my dealer with 0 ded and since the ecoboost in these trucks is unknown it makes me feel better.

Wow, surprised your radiator lasted that long. In the 08 SD's the saying was "when your radiator goes bad, not "if" your radiator goes bad" Mine lasted 8 months and leaked. Good thing you had the x-warranty, plus your truck has like 8 radiators, dpf, and whole mess of other parts that would hurt the wallet to replace. Good choice

Being raised by old-school parents (who thought 50,000 miles on a vehicle was a great achievement, I went for the extended policy (of course, mine is almost out now lol)

I put about 28-30K or more a year on my truck, so I have to have a dependable vehicle with a solid plan to fix problems quickly and cheaply....

If it means a piece of mind to you I say get it. I did and am not worrying about mine for 7years and 100k. 100 deduct for 1450 seemed ok for me. To each their own as to what they want or expect.
