Not sure if you were talking to me or Smiley. Either way, why be a douche bag? If you don't have anything to ADD then move on...

Man, I had an annoying rattle all of a sudden out of nowhere. Deep hollow rattle that I swear was coming from the center of the dash. Had my kid drive me around a while and stuck my head between windshield and dash and pinpointed the effin noise.

Turns out, the small compass module had unclipped from the rearview mirror mount. The noise was being deflected straight down onto the dash, creating an audio illusion. The module clips on in two places, and I must have knocked it just right while wiping the inside of the windshield, because it was still clipped by the ring, but not on the finger at the bottom.

To this day, I still can't believe the source of the location versus where the noise was being projected.

This might just help somebody. Good luck with your noise.

good luck at the dealer. wonder how many trips back to fix the additional that they screw up.

i had a sticky glue on my passenger window every time the window went down. i figured it would stop when it ran out of what ever was there . after 4 months it did not. thought about mentioning to the dealer and then thought better. pulled the door apart and found a piece of sound deadining material wasnt pressed against the outer skin.

i think i would have someone else drive the truck and see what i could do to locate it before i let the dealer animals loose.

Mine sounds to be middle of the dash too. Right above the radio... I'll have to look at the the compass module.

My rattle is in the door panel but it stops if my arm is on the arm rest. It gets pretty irritating but I don't really want the dealership tearing it up.

Man rough crowd.... Anyways when I dropped it off it was cold out and everything was tight under the dash. No noise which is temporarily a good thing. But once the warm weather comes back I'll take it in.

As far as trouble shooting I am plenty capable of fixing things as I believe if someone put it together I can take it apart. No update currently but once it happens again I'll post and let you all know the outcome.

It was not speed or rpm dependent, air on or off, music on or off no impact.

Besides why buy a brand new truck and not let someone else scratch their head and chase a rattle!!!

I had the same problem-- I took two zip ties and pulled them tight around the compass and the mirror.

This forum should add a reputation feature so people like that can come to light.
