Reverse sensing?

I have already done a search so get off me. Now has anyone actually added reverse sensing to a 09 up truck? I want to and was just wanting to hear from some one who has done it. These things are too big not to have it.

I have not read of anyone trying it. Sounds like an expensive proposition though. I actually think i have learned to rely a little too heavily on mine. Heaven forbid if it ever fails me. I almost don't even look anymore.

Have you inquired at the dealer to see if it is a viable option? I'm guessing no matter what, a trip to the dealer would be in order, even if it is just to activate the system, much like adding a factory trailer brake controller.

According to my manual, You should need A Parking Aid Module, Part # 15k866 (PAM and parking aid speaker assembly), 4 sensors (part # 15k859), wiring harness (part # 13a576), and a 10A fuse in fuse 35 of the Smart Junction Box.

I'm assuming from there that all the integrated wiring is already in the truck, but the connectors are taped up into the existing wiring, and perhaps hidden from plain view. You will also either need to either drill, and file , and protect from corrosion your existing bumper, or replace it with a backup sensor bumper. Depending on the cost of the sensors, it might be more worth your while to find a used rear bumper in a wrecker with the sensors and wiring already in it. Make sure they don't cut the sensor plug off if you go that route. The PAM itself is located above and next to the brake pedal, and is held in by 2 nuts. In the pictures, it looks to be about 3 inches by 3 inches, and about 1 inch thick with a tweeter sized speaker on the face of it. Maybe you can find the whole works from a wrecker for a decent price.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yeah the part numbers will help a lot. Bumper ends will be about 200 bucks and the rest I dont know yet. I figure a reflash when I'm done. Still cheaper than a new truck. I have a history of doing stuff like this, I just can't help my self. Some wiring diagrams would really help.

There are aftermarket companies that sell a sensor that plugs into your cigarette lighter and the towing receiver.

I've read that they work quite well, but don't know.....(cuz I have the sensors)

I'm not sure if the wiring diagrams are included in this set or not, but something like this can really help if you plan on digging around.

It's not an overly easy prospect to post pics of the wiring diagrams for the sensor system. The book is a little on the back and forth variety to get the whole big picture.

Good deal on manual tks. found the Parking Aid Module for 106 bucks. I figure it goes under the dash. If the plug is in the harness there I think I will go for it. Now all I need to do is find it. Looks like this will run around $500.

I have had the sensors and now have a backup camera on my work van. That's what you want, it works great.

I had my dealer install reverse sensors on my 2010 F-150 when it was new. The system they installed was made by Echomaster.
