Fellow Forum Members,
What do you all think would be the easiest way to remove minor corrosion on my KMC XD Series Black Matte wheels? Thanks in advance for any help.

While we're waiting, I'm assuming your wheels are aluminum. You also say they're matte black. Do you know what kind of finishing technique was used to get the matte black? (Powder coat, paint, anodizing, etc.) The reason I ask is that corrosion (more correctly called oxidation on aluminum) can generally be removed any number of ways. The bigger trick is going to be re-finishing the wheel so that you can't see where the oxidation was removed.

I think what you're going to find is that the oxidation is actually quite easy to remove via any number of means. The bigger trick will be removing a minimum amount of the matte black finish, then finding a way to protect the now unprotected surface. I will tell you this. Unless you totally remove the oxidation, it will come back pretty quickly. If you do completely remove it, you'll still have to apply a new protective coating. Paint, powder coat etc. are reallyu the only long term solutions. No wax or sealer that you apply by hand really does much.
