Bed Extender with Line-X ?

Does anybody have this? I want to buy the OEM stowable bed extender but I'm not sure if my Line-X will be an issue.

I too have been wondering the same thing.

Sorry for getting your hopes up that someone answered.

This is for sure something I need to know about.

Since you already Lined it, it will be difficult to find the self tapping holes. I'm sure you'd have to somehow scratch it off before tapping. As for the thickness. You might be ok with the pins lining up when the extenders are facing inside. I have a rubber matt and they won't line-up, even with taking the rubber stoppers off the cage. It lines up fine extended onto the tailgate, but not facing inward.

Won't the screw tap itself through the line-x? I guess I will try to scratch it out before purchasing the extender.

Have LineX and installed the extender myself...

I have '09 Screw. The mounting/pivot hole won't be a problem. It's self tapping and I used an impact gun to drive it in. You will need to drill out the locking pin holes so the pins will easily fit. (They get filled with LineX) Also plan on filling down the "feet" on the extension on the side that sits on the bed due to the thickness on the line X. If you don't the locking pins won't line up to the holes on the bed sides.

This.

My '11 has Line-X and the factory extender. I chose not to bore out the locking pin hole as its only function is to prevent it from flipping over itself. You would have to be doing some pretty crazy driving for this to occur and I do not want to damage the integrity of the Line-X.

On mine the locking pins would not fully seat. Much of the red indicator was still showing. Plus there were really hard to push in. After drilling out the holes they work perfectly.

What did you use to drill out the hole? Also I read that the mounting screw takes a T50 Torx screw. I have looked in 3 different stores and cannot find size T50. The biggest I have found is T40. I have also read that some people used a impact drill to mount the extender. I have a power drill, will this be sufficient to use?

Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can install the bolts by hand using a 1/2" drive and some muscle! I did it by hand and had no problem.

Is it a T50 Torx screw?

One other side note, any self tapping bolt can have the entire process made ALOT easier with a little bit of lube. Dip the bolt in some motor oil, trans fluid, WD40, whatever. You will notice a major advantage, and you can easily install it with a regular 1/2 inch ratchet, and the PROPER torx bit.

That would make sense. I will keep that in mind because all I have is the standard drill. What about the size bit I need? Is it a T50? I would like to have this before the extender gets here.

The LineX dealer tapped off the mounting and locking pin holes so that wasn't a problem. I took a razor blade and cut off part of the rubber feet. I just kept trimming them until the locking pins lined up again. It only took a few minutes.

I didn't have the LineX dealer block the holes because I didn't think I would ever get a bed extender. I have a feeling the self tapping screw will go right through the LineX no problem.
