Bad experience with 4wheelparts.com, BEWARE

I ordered and paid for $300 in jeep accessories in NOVEMBER as a christmas present for my brothers jeep. I was given free shipping on my online order but later contacted to get more money for the shipping. I reluctantly paid even though I wanted to cancel my order and probably should have then. I was told then everything would then be shipped out. Shame on me for not checking the status of the order until a few days before christmas since it never arrived, to be told two items are back ordered and their waiting for them to come in, even though they had no idea when that would be, to ship it. They should have let me know this so I could have order elsewhere. So again I reluctantly told customer service guy Marcos, to go ahead and ship the items they do have. He agreed and said they would ship out and should be there in about a week, the others would be shipped when they arrive. A few days later I got an email saying they are unable to process my order and to call for assistance. Couldn't get a hold of anyone because of new years till today and found out they decided they won't separate the items to ship some of them out now because it will cost them extra to do it. So now its Jan 3rd and I'm canceling an order that has yet to ship that I ordered over a month ago. I have used 4wheelparts in the past and have referred friends to them for their purchases. I will tell them otherwise now, and I will find another outlet to purchase my accessories for my current vehicle, my wifes vehicle, and future vehicles and as gifts for friends.

Thought I would share this experience of lack of customer service from these guys. They have actual stores, hopefully they treat you better in person than online. Be careful if you guys want to purchase from 4wheelparts.com and their affiliates, one is performanceproducts.com.

I think they are good company from what I have used them for. And something like this my **** me off where I too dont order from them either. But one bad experience doesnt make them bad, then factor in the holidays and all of that. And you sure shipping wasnt because you didnt exceed a dollar amount, was only on certain things, etc. You have to watch the fine print on that stuff.

Sounds like they struggled a bit with the high demand during the holidays, as do many online stores. Sorry for your bad experience, however thanks for the heads up. I try to avoid online ordering nearing the holidays because of this very reason.

My prior experiences were fine, just this time they did nothing but screw up my order, and fixing the situation was pretty much non existent. They canceled my free shipping because it was going to HI, even though they have a store there (which also made me have to pay taxes. So I paid the additional amount but never informed me stuff was backordered and still is. I also ordered in november to give it time to get to him before christmas.

Sounds like a lie of ommision! I hate when it takes pulling teeth to find out an order is backordered. If a vendor would come clean at the time of order I can and have dealt with it. But to not be informed of a backorder situation way down the line is not cool at all! JMHO.

About 3 years back, I had a similar experience with them with an item that first they told me would ship the next day, then when it didn't, they kept telling me was going to ship anyday. Any day came about 6 or 7 weeks after I had placed the order. In fairness, the item did arrive in good condition, it just took too long.

Ive heard bad stories through the years about them, then I heard they were going out of business. To be honest ive heard more bad then good but thats what you usually read on the forums.

I placed an order with them recently when they were offering free shipping & no handling charges. They took longer than average to deliver. When I received the order I noticed the invoice included a $9.95 Handling fee that wasn't disclosed on purchase. Not thrilled with their business practices or customer service.

4wp IMO is a questionable company. The fact that you have a decent selection of parts and can actually walk into a store is nice, but i find most of their employees don't know that much and would rather take an order over the phone than help the person in front of them. Prices are alright, usually a tad higher than most other places but not so high where i just don't shop there anymore. I usually only order from them if i want to go in and verify that the warehouse has them, learned not to trust the sales person over the phone. They don't stock anything for my vehicle so i only use them for recovery items or shocks
