well, after 9 or 10 months of researching, test driving and negotiating, along with numerous unused coupons, phone calls and emails from dealers I finally bit the bullet and bought a new platinum with the ecoboost. Originally I was only looking at FX4s and although I came close a couple times it just didnt seem like I could get what I thought I wanted. I was wanting an eco, 4x4 with the long bed and leather. I really liked the fx4 black interior over all the other options. Then when the 12s came out with the red dash lights and different badges etc I didnt really like the new models. I was at a local dealer couple weeks ago to see an 157" wb fx4 that actually turned out to be a silver platinum. wow, what a nice truck. all the goodies including nav and moonroof etc. First time I had ever looked at a plat other than just walking past them. I never did care for the grill and just dismissed them due to that and the price. But when i saw this silver one, the grill seemed to match ok and once I sat inside it and then test drove it I was really impressed with the overall feel and look. I couldnt get it out of my mind after that. The dealer that had the plat would not accept my offer and we were about 2500 apart on the truck and about 500 apart on my trade. I then contacted the dealer i have been working with for about 6 months and after much back and forth, today we struck a deal and they dealer traded for the plat. Original sticker on the plat was for 53700. I bought it today for 42500, got 500 more on my trade than two other dealers offered me and had them add the box side steps, a bedliner and rust proofing for $500. I am very happy with the deal and cant wait to get this beautiful truck. Sorry for the long post but i just have to tell someone all about it. Will post pics next week when I get it.

 

Congtats man! I still like mine. I agree with you the silver trim on the Platinum looks best on the silver and gray trucks. How does the EB run compared to the oil burner?

 

lol thanks man, I dont have the plat in the drivewa yet as they are adding a few things to it. On the test drive I sure noticed that I was up to speed and 10mph over the speed before I really knew it. With the SD, the power was there but you definitely knew it was accerlerating due to the noise. I loved the SD with the 7.3 but it seems like i havent lost any accerleration , Eco actually is quicker and so so much quieter. I can see probably meeting a few of the local mounties until i learn to control the new one. lol am excited and anxious to get the new truck. It should be ready for delivery by thursday 12/29. I have had a lot of ford trucks and this is gonna by far be the nicest, most option filled one. Really wasnt in the market for a plat, more of an FX4 guy but was a deal I couldnt pass up. Hoping to do HD Tails maybe and heads too but I may just keep it the way it is. WOuld love an HD grille too. Just thinking, not sure what i will do other than the bakflip 1.
